  1. http://www.djlicence.org.uk/pdffiles/Licen...20Royalties.pdf well after reading that above the DJ licence should cover most areas. Or should I re-read it again and pay 2 different organizations, for the same level of service and licencing.
  2. Someone please correct me if i'm wrong, but you don't need a licence to use a laptop at a private booking as no such licence exists yet. I paid my £235 to transfer 20000 tracks to digital format for use at public events. However that does not mean I never use a laptop at a private function, as far as i'm concerned I am as bonafide and legal as can be. The people who impose these silly rules should really sort this mess out.
  3. laptop is the way to go, get one with a dualhead display card. Avoid dell laptops like the plague, my last 2 dells suffered from the odd pop and crack now and again. I brought an acer machine recently runs my copy of OTSDJ without any problems, it has dual display outputs and the milkdrop visuals run at full frame rate without problems. Not to sure Virtual DJ is the right software choice, looked very complex, OTSDJ seems alot better although updates have been rather scarce until recently, OTS Corp have a major beatmxing release coming on or just before 31st October. I would wait and try OTSDJ
  4. QUOTE (Chris_Pointon @ Oct 17 2006, 08:37 PM) QUOTE I already pay my £235 for my digital licence So you only do public functions then?, and no private functions? I do both public and private, the last public performance was for an open day with my local council, 2 weeks ago. A friend who is also in this game advised me not to bother getting a licence, but i feel its better to be safe than sorry as any fine given to me would force me to wind the roadshow up, which I would not be very happy doing as I see it as a hobby i enjoy with the benefit of making money.
  5. thanks for that, i'm sure that link will be the first of many. The prices are quite reasonable, i think £35 is alot better than £60 and quality of the content looks identical. I have the projector and a rear projected 72" screen, but all I have put on the screen is the milkdrop plugin from OTSDJ up until now as I plan to drop in the video where possible once I get some content and a back library.
  6. I sit on the fence with this one I already pay my £235 for my digital licence, I think its all to with the country in which we live, its all gone mad. I do agree its not really needed because why pay twice fro our music, but I also accept I must pay it because its how I make an additional living. But £235 for 20000 tracks in digital format, bargain.
  7. Okay I new here not not so new to the Mobile DJ scene, my problem is I'm looking for a place to buy music dvds for use at my gigs. I did come across a site not so long back to buy such material and as I recall the dvds were £60.00 each, however I can't find the site any longer, I know it still exists but I just can't remember the url, can anyone jog my memory. I think the dvds are sold by pioneer.
