Spending time with family when I'm not at work, DJ'ing, radio production and going to the Gym.
  1. I'm not planning to nip out to the late shop and let virtual DJ do the work :joe: but I would like to be able to have a rest during the buffet and let Virtual DJ trawl through an easy listening playlist, while the guests digest their quiche and garlic bread. Has anyone managed to do this successfully? Setting fade time to zero sounds horrible, as track A completely fades before track B starts. With fade time set at 0.2, Virtual DJ appears to fade track A earlier, but chops the beginning of track B off!. I can't disengage the crossfader - tried various settings in the config menu. Also, a
  2. Yes! This is so funny! I remember when I started, I didn't know what to say so I copied other DJs, and the basic text was: "well there you go, the sound of [artist] and [title]". The radio work knocked it out of me because I used to listen back to tapes and cringe. Its the same all over the country too. Well there you go ... ... and I really wanted some leather pants, and a mullet with highlights too.
  3. Like many people on here, I try and remain balanced and guage the crowd. The early part of the evening gives me the opportunity to chat and create an atmosphere, invite requests and generally "set up my stall". I'd feel as though I'd short changed someone if I didn't speak (unless of course that was what they wanted). However, I love it when the party is in full swing and I can concentrate on the music. In terms of speech content, I instinctively avoid "this is", "that was", "the sound of", "coming up" (any quite a few other things) and keep in mind Peter Kay and his mobile DJ parody" Wh
  4. Hi Stephen, welcome to the forum. Its great to finally get out there so the best of luck to you - and hope 2007 is a great year for you! :)
  5. Hi, my name is Steve Kenyon, I've just got back on the road officially (on a part time basis) following a few years away. I mainly worked in the Manchester area, starting when I was 13 years old, helping at my local hospital radio station and with a bit of involvment with the then NWDJA. Over the last few years, I have worked more in broadcasting - doing instore-radio in the North East, AA Roadwatch, Piccadilly Key103 in Manchester, Radio Stoke and UCB and Cross Rhythms on satellite. This included lots of live work, so although I've not had my own disco to take out, I've used some nice e
  6. That sounds like nightmare gig - don't let it get you down though, it sounds like you did absolutely evrything you could. I had two incidents in the past. One was an aggressive drunk who was insisting on me playing some :cense:king Will Downing or else he would beat me up. I had to get the landlord to have him removed. The other was an 18th. The dog muck on the stairs on the way up should have been a warning! When I got on stage and set up, I realised the majority of the birthday party attendees were a mixture of mods and skinheads. When I played what they wanted - they started laying into eac
