  1. I believe there will always be a place at wedding for a "Good, Experienced DJ", and I think this is the point, There are people out there who, for what ever reason, have decided to set up as a mobile disco, (redundancy is the usual case, after a nice pay out). They advertise in YP or wherever get a few bookings - usually undercutting the rest of us by up to 50% - and more often than not make a hash of it. These rigs can just about get away with doing an 18th or 40th etc (even thats debatable, and thats another discussion), but weddings take alot of work, and require experience. I've d
  2. I like the idea of a chore corryog rehearsed first dance. Seen a few on YouTube (American) and it looks like a good way to get the party stared. Someone mentioned Star Trekking - not sure how this could be listed as your Best first dance song maybe the Strangest. Also (slighty off topic) I hate it when you invite the rest of the crowd up to dance & join in with the B&G and no-one does, its like HELLO CELEBRATING THEIR WEDDING FOLKS show em some love! As for songs not to play coz of past relationships The Birdie Song!! I have no idea what they used to get up to
  3. I'm wondering in wonderment what is the best song you've been asked to play for a first dance. Not the most requested, but the one that made you smile, laugh, cheer, hug the groom, whatever. My top three (just to be smug) are Wannadies - You and Me song The Ramones - Baby I Love You Tom Petty - Free Falling Any Thoughts??
  4. Personal - Sitting on a deck chair in the middle of Clumber Park with my wife and young un and two good friends with thiers, a full belly (BBQ) watching a Men v Women game of rounders (specially the lass in the pink top - hubba hubba), sun beating down and no need to move for the next 4 hours! Professional - Metioned to the lass that served me in Vodafone that the pub played her sort of music and she not only turned up with her husband but a crowd of about 20 others AND stayed all night! - now THATS how to earn brownie points off of the landlord
  5. Yeah I guess I'm pushing it abit trying to get summat decent for less than a ton but what can ya do!? I've searched ebay and all i found was a few mixers which were either to expensive, had bits missing (fader knobs usually), or had very poor reviews. I'll keep looking and probably just take the pluge with the denon in the end. £100 quid towards sumfing I don't want would be better toward sumfing I do!
  6. Hi guys, I'm looking for a new 3 channel mixer to replace the make-shift stage mixer I'm using bewtween my two Denon DN-S1000's The probl;em I have is I'm on a seriously tight budget and don't want to go much over £100 (under would be fab) I've seen a Numark DM2050 that looks OK, EQ on all ch. and Lo/Hi on the Mic I must admit I'm a bit of a Denon snob and so I'm just filling a gap until I can purchase the DN-X300 Basically I need some thing that isn't goind to die in the first few months, with reasonable sound. Any suggestions welcome. Cheers :thanks:
  7. Hi all, Thanks to Dukesy for welcoming me onto this forum I've been looking for a sensible site to express views and get comments for ages now and I'm so pleased to have found this little gem. Just a bit about me, Started helping out a mate in 1990 'Playing records' inbetween lugging his gear about, finally took the plunge and went out with me own gear about 2 years later after learning masses from me buddy. Made a decent living a got a nice reputation as a mobile and working for pubs and the odd fun pub/club. Gave it up to sing in a band for a year or 7. Back to
