  1. Sugababes - About You Now Sean Kingston - Beautiful Girls Gwen Stefani - Sweet Escape Spinko
  2. No doubt we'll cover this the next time we have a pint Rob, but as it is normally only around a 2 hour set I think I would probably be playing the Sugababes - About You Now or Scissor Sisters - I don't feel like dancin' Spinko
  3. I've voted 2am as I have another job and I'm getting older and late nights become late mornings, however, I would work for as long as I was paid, it's only that the general gigs do not go too late. I'd love to do a soul-allnighter before I finally pack-up. Spinko
  4. Mrs Spinko  - No seriously, I've always loved music and seeing people enjoy themselves. If by doing my bit, and getting paid for it, I can add anything to someone's event then it's all been worth it. Like mattaious, my father passed away suddenly in 2001, although I'd been dj-ing hiring the gear prior to that, I then decided to put more effort into it and my best mate backed me to get my kit. My dad always said 'You only get one go at this life'. I've regretted not doing things when I was younger, I didn't want to look back when I was sitting in some nursing home wetting
  5. Top singles - Scouting for Girls - She's So Lovely, went down a storm at the end of the Wedding season, especially if you dedicated it to the bride from her new 'other half' and for sheer vibrance The View - Same Jeans. Worst single - Sugababes/Girls Aloud - Walk this Way, not a patch on the original and what are the lyrics, is it decipherable ? Appreciate it is a charity single but it is just pap. Best Album - DJ Wise - Now 66, an absolute classic, Personal favourite Thrills - Teenager, saw them live recently, a great band and the compilation Radio 1 Established 1967, an interestin
  6. Thanks the comments folks, agree with Mick I've done a couple of gigs recently where the audience has been predominantly under 21, and found that the tracks being requested were not on Pro-Disc. I think that next year, it's sorry to Mastermix but will cancel my subscription. and invest on downloads. The've served their purpose well but have now been overtaken by technology. I also find that less and less gigs are chart orientated and even the younger crowds are listening to older stuff. Spinko
  7. Monkees - I'm A Believer Edwin Starr - Contact Jackson 5 - I Want You Back Tramps - Disco Inferno KC & Sunshine Band - That's The Way (uh huh uh huh) I Like It (uh huh uh huh). Most of the others mentioned also go down a storm at the right time.... Last night DJ Otzi's Hey Baby was well received, it had been asked for by about 6 different people, perhaps it was just one of those songs that went down well with them, I normally find that this now goes down like a lead balloon and only play if requested. Spinko
  8. Totally agree, I do not like the 'megamix' tracks, they generally have something totally inappropriate in the middle of them that clears the floor and the public usually think that the dj is a lazy git playing a 12 or 13 minute track. Spinko
  9. Picking up on one of the other recent threads of new music, I just wanted to raise the quality of this year's Mastermix ProDisc. In my own opinion, I've been getting the Pro-Disc on subscription since No 30, it's now at No 88, this year has seen the poorest selection of tunes on the discs. A whole host of number 1 singles have been missing from the disc, which is supposed to be 'up-front' with what is happening. On the normal issues there was no Mika - Grace Kelly, Rihanna - Umbrella, Kanye West - Stronger, Sugababes - About You Now, Sean Kingston - Beautiful Girls, Leona Lewis - Ble
  10. Busy enough with something everyweekend but have made sure that I have one Saturday off (17th) to recharge the batteries for the Xmas rush. Spinko
  11. I've voted Norwich, however to get it off the ground would be willing to travel as far as Ipswich, Cambridge, King's Lynn if needs be. Really think it would be of great benefit if we got together, like the idea of looking at equipment, especially at something that I haven't got or may think of buying but really feel that the main point of the evening is for us to get together and do some real networking as the sales people would tell us. We could taylor the meet to our needs, perhaps discuss a few topics dear to our hearts, insurance, pricing, venues, music and consider the idea of alignin
  12. I've played it a few times especially on 80's night's, with the Oz link I've usually followed with Down Under - Men At Work, another great track. Spinko
  13. Definitely not - Don't Marry Her - Beautiful South - especially the album version, I got caught out when it first came out, the in-laws nearly :cense: themselves as well as lynching me !! Spinko
