  1. Im using a windows XP laptop with PCDJ red vrm ver 7.3 build 1001. I use this with a gigaport sound card into a 2 channel DJ mixer ( Citronic CDM 5.2k ) then into a power amp. The problem I have is with the Mic input. On my previous mixer ( A Sony DJM ) the mic started to break up and would sometimes not work at all so I bought the citronic, and the same thing is happening to this mixer too. Its not the mic as I have three and its the same on all of them. Whats got me asking is a friend of mine used pcdj through a Gigaport and external mixer for the first time last Saturday and he to
  2. Its all down to the exchanger unit. On cheap machines they clog very quickly, hence the failure rate. I know they are expensive but go for Martin/Jem... Believe you me they last a long long time. Acme maybe cheap but its false economy in the long run.
  3. My rates are fixed, except for Xmas and NYE. I charge £250 xmas and £400 NYE....... and I am always booked in advance !!
  4. I would say neither, that realm still belongs to the radio !
  5. I run the disco along with my wife ( You know what they say about working with Children and animals ?? They should also add the Mrs to that !! ) But seriously, in the band if I was ever stopped, I would say I have been practicing with fellow members and for the Disco, well its all in her indoors name, which means I am helping out a third party by transporting their gear ? On both occasions fully insured in my estate car on standard fully comp insurance.
  6. For me its all now about portability. I used to run a huge goal post rig which used to take me an hour and a half to take down at the end of the night, much to the delight of the Peed off bar staff who wanted to go home too ! I use a Laptop, and since downsizing my rig, which also means I have done away with the van ( more money saving !) I can get it all stripped down and ready to load in just 15 minutes !!!!
  7. Seriously, check out Samson Power Amps, we bi- amp two of them in the band and they are brilliant. Behringer ?? Wouldn't touch it with a barge pole !! ( Yes I'm talking from experience )
  8. Thanks guys. Tried all of your suggestions but to no avail, The noise is there through headphones too, so I guess its probably the internal sound card ? Still... I intend to carry on as I have always done, but I guess in an emergency a pair of noisy speakers will be of little detail ? Once again thanks for the input.
  9. Hi, Been using PCDJ Red since 2002, through a Gigaport AG , 2 channel DJ mixer , Yamaha Power Amp and RCF speakers. The sound is great with only a minuscule hiss when the power amp is turned up full. However on Sunday evening my mixer started to play up ( thankfully I managed to get through the gig ) I have bought a new mixer, but to have an extra safeguard I have decided to set up the lap top to use the built in mixer with PCDJ Red. I purchased all the necessary leads and a ground loop isolator from Maplins, but when the power amp is up full the speaker noise is horrendous. Tried al
  10. Hello all,. Ive been a musician for 30 years and starting DJ`ing 11 years ago in Devon. Still do both but still play more than I DJ.
