  1. not possible as the other end has a small phone plug that slots into the controler, but the problem is the outter casings of the wire as the wire is standard copper strands, but the outter casings are stiff and a swine to solder acurately without a third hand! the design of the dmx 5 lead to the light unit is the problem, the gauge of the final outter casing is too narrow to be held down by the plug clamp, thus being allowed to be stressed instaed of a fixed outter casing held firmly by the clamp. the best thing to do if you ever need to repair would be to do several windings of ins
  2. Thanks for that jeff, but to add salt to injury, i called em myself as i was waiting for such a reply, but you can see how infuriating it is with cables being so stiff!! I agree the shrink tube should be done at the factory and its not that the lack of this shrink tube is the wholle problem, but the cable is not secured enough inside the housing, it just slips through, so as well as insulate the cables i have also made the cable much thicker by winding insulation tape around it so the the cable grip has something to grip! thanks again i really appreciate you going to the trouble
  3. another common problem with these are the wires are so rigid and nothing holds the assembly in place that they fracture and come away. although this has happened to me, i would happily buy more, great units just need to know what colour goes to which pin number on the in put lead
  4. Datamoons decided not to play via the controller last night and desperate to get fixed before saturday nights gig! There are 4 wires yellow green red black on the din style plug there are 6 pins 1 2 3 4 5 6 pin 1,2 and 3 had a wire on it due to solder residue pin4 not used pin 5 used as solder is present pin 6 is the earth eyelet there is no trace as to what colour went where as all are the same length and left no trace from the outter case colours. I am trawling the web as we speak to find if there is a resource there, bu
  5. Here in South Yorkshire I charge £80 for a Saturday night as do the rest of the mobiles here. I must admit a few years ago i would undercut to get the work cos i enjoyed the scene and still do , but thing about this before you make up your mind. If you stick to your guns on price eventually people will book you as you are consistant and may be the only disco not working and the person on the other end of the phone has been let down by " Bodge-it and scarper disco" now this may not make sense, but word of mouth works as i stopped advertising for a year and wanted a break , but calls still ca
  6. http://www.chrispointon.f2s.com/Forum/html/emoticons/1092.gif I must admit in the 18 years of doing roadshows. I find them still as much a challenge as day 1 and have to say that i prefer the wedding function to most, but if i had a choice of the type i would do. I would choose a pub without a dince floor as it makes it more of a challenge to read the crowd from 1 track to the next. Weddings i find are a good mix of the ages and taste of music and on very rare occasions you will find that nothing works to get them dancing unless it is modern stuff, but as i said it is very rare. With ref
