  1. WOW Thanx folks! The advice is mucho appreciated but I didn't mean to start a debate!!!! I'm happy spinning my choons on old fashioned wheels of steel! Laptops and cd's don't do it for me, with all due respect. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/smile.gif Thanx again http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif
  2. Hi folks Wondering if anyone can advise http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/rolleyes.gif I've got my decks wired up through my stereo at home and have made the odd tape for "critique" purposes. However, I think the amp in my stereo has issues and I'm thinking I'm going to have to buy a new one. My dilemma is: can I buy a seperate amp to wire up to my decks and instead of taping my set using a cassette, is there anyway I can record onto a blank cd? It isn't practicle to hook my decks up to my PC so I really need something independant. Thanks in anticipation ht
  3. Good thinking!!!! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/thumbup.gif I only use the turntables in front of the cats and the dog and I guess they're not that bothered how it sounds but I am!!! I take it the needle comes out of the cartridge easily enough?
  4. I think one of my needles or cartridges has got issues! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/sad.gif I never really noticed it too much until I made a tape the other day and when I listened to it, every record played on my right hand deck was distorted!!!! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/thumbdown.gif I know you're all wondering why I've never noticed before when I've been playing but you really don't till you hear it on tape! Having never had to deal with this before, do I just go online and buy needles? Or do I buy cartridges aswell? I've had a wee look in a coupl
  5. When you live in the north east of Scotland, EVERYWHERE is TOO FAR!!!!! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/014.gif We're hoping to get Channel 4 soon!!!! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/laugh.gif
  6. Thanks for all that advice! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/notworthy.gif It's really helpful. I just played a bangin set and it sounded quite good!!!! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/laugh.gif I guess although I might think I'm ok at pitch/beat matching, I can always be better!!!!! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/goodjob.gif If I'm feeling flush, I may just book myself a course! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/thanks.gif PS Anyone need a roadie? http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/blush.gif
  7. Thanx. I've looked online and so far can only find venues in London. As much as I'd love a trip to London, somewhere in Scotland would be better for me, me being a Scots lass an all that! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/042.gif One of the courses on offer included 2 days tutition in "pitch matching, beat matching, music structure, phrasing and mixing board techniques". I certainly wouldnt want to spend a whole weekend learning to scratch - especially not at £350!!!! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/thumbdown.gif I guess what I really want is for someone to talk/
  8. Having heard about DJ courses (run over weekends or 5 days), I wondered what folk thought about their usefulness? I'm relatively new to the turntables but feel confident enough with pitch and beat matching. I know practice makes perfect but would I benefit from a crash course? I don't want to go professional or anything, I just enjoy playing good tunes! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/rolleyes.gif

  10. Hi folks http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/042.gif I cant believe it - I'm back on-line! My PC has been very poorly but following a lengthy stay in the PC hospital, it's back working again. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/thumbup.gif I've missed catching up on what's been going on. I've had withdrawl symptoms! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/014.gif

  14. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/014.gif Yup - you're right! I guess if we don't laugh - we'll cry! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/014.gif You know what they say about crying tho'? The more you greet - the less you pee!!!! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif
  15. This is a very interesting topic! Changing it slightly but on the same wavelength, I've had a "thanks but you shouldn't of" experience. I thot I was doing the rite thing but obviously not! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/wallbash.gif Several years ago, my neighbour came rushing thru to my flat and said her boyfriend was going to hang himself (cheery subject I know). (we werent best friends but we got on and I'd helped out a few times) She told me he was out of his face. ( I knew he was an addict). I looked thru the letter box and he was climbing up a ladder towards the loft ha
