  1. At the begining of a gig, wheather it being a wedding, birthday, wake (lol) etc... What do you play to start off with as the people are getting in the room and getting comfatably. I know you keep your best floorfillers after but i tend to struggle what to play first as i am new to doing this. I know all about reading the crowd and the age groups. What i'm trying to say is do you have a set list in your head or do just play "anything" as background music? Thanks

    Playlists

Hey guys. After looking at your playlists, i have seen some good tracks. As i have only done a couple of gigs, how do get yourselves familuar with tracks, do you just constantly play them over and over or do you just memorise every track? It's just that i can sometimes read the crowd but i think i just lack on the ammount of tracks that are out there and i sometimes panic thinking "what can go after this track" Would going out with fellow DJ's really help or would it be just go out with the knowledge i know and learn by my mistakes? :wall: :tree:
  3. Guys For those who are using tunechecker for albums, i'll save you some time on saying that tune tribe are selling the albums as individual tracks so don't beleive it saying £7.99 when it's more like £123.49.(101 ibiza anthems) I think it's a loop hole for these download site not being able to sell cheap downloads now,
  4. Hey guys. Someone has approached me and asked to do a christening Now, it's not untill march but i thought i'd ask for some ideas of what to play at christenings. I'd think they would be treated as a wedding but without the first dance. lol Now, what i know is the family is a big irish family so what irish songs could you advise and i suspect the age group could be from a tot's the grandparents. I'm thinking that it could be an blank canvas and i could play something of everything but i just wanted to know, if anyone else has done one before and if so, what did you play?

    Dj Albums

Went to my local HMV store and they was kind to let me find out about this album. I've found out that it is mixed. i hope this doesn't mean i have to find and download every single garage track. :wall:

 Does anyone know where i can get garage CD's that are not mixed and are single tracks like clubland CD's
  8. One thing i have noticed is that when i run VDJ through my mixer, when i move the cross fader of the selected deck, it gets loud so i have to have one hand on the cross fader and the other one on the fader off the channel i'm using. Would anyone know if any other program stops this from happening and allow my the mix songs without changing the volume all the time or is there anyway on VDJ that this can be stopped? P.S. I think I'm using VDJ V5.2
  9. Hey thanks Dave on that. I forgot to mention that i do have a second USB soundcard and VDJ picks this up and i can play one track while cue'ing the other one in so i guess i'm starting off good. The version of VDJ is 5.2. I was just wondering that if people was using the program or different programs, they're using it as but i can see what you mean as a external controller.
  10. Hey guys. As a part time singer, i have all the equiptment to produce sound e.g powered desk, top and bassbis speakers, lighting and backdrop. Now, i have been using my laptop with virtual DJ on it practising at home. I recently found out that VDJ can still read CD's and as i have a portable second CD drive, instead of buying all the mixing equiptment, could i get away with using the program as a mixing desk. In other words, has anyone else thought of this idea or is anyone currently using the dame setup. Thanks.
  11. Ok, Thanks. I read the part and quote "(Q) I'm a DJ using Legal Downloads directly from my Laptop / Ipod (A) This is currently a grey area and some major download companies may simply forbid DJ's using their music commercially as part of a business. We advise that you contact the source(s) of the downloaded music to obtain written permission to use the material for DJ purposes. We also suggest that you contact the Pro-Dub team for further advice. " So, would that mean i would need to contact the supermarkets or the Album vender's or as it's a grey area, do nothing until the t
  12. Hi Guys. Newbie here. Now, i'm thinking of starting up a disco buisness and i have read all the posts of what to do and what not to do. The only thing that is puzzling me is I'm thinking about getting albums from various supermarket websites where you can download them directly as MP3 and on you my HDD. With the "pro-dub" licence, i understand that people are saying it will allow you to rip the music off CD but what about the one's I am going to buy from the websites. I will assuming that i would have invoices via email to confirm the purchase making the album legal. If i
