Baltimore?..sinden, Herve..anyone?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys...

I was wondering if there was any followers of these guys, and the relatively new baltimore genre?

I think this music is amazing...it gives me goosebumps and the need to seriously rip up the dance floor! :P

I just love how its cut and paste style keeps any lenghty mixes bangin constantly...and avoids that constant repetitive beat that alot of the main stream crap has these days :P

any other lovers?

Steady on Gav.....

This is DJ United.....I dont think it matters whether your mobile, radio, club or anything else......we are all DJs aint we?

The other forum your thinking of that has mobile in the title......well thats another forum altogether LOL

Might be showing my lack of knowledge here, but I will say it anyway....

Yes this is a forum aimed at mobile DJs primarily however a DJ is a DJ which is why, in the profile we give lots of options to choose from.

I accept that a club DJ would not necessarily suit mobile work (& vice versa). The same would apply to radio DJs etc but we can all learn from each other and this is why we try to be all inclusive.

TBH Baltimore is somewhere in the USA, sinden is probably a condition best cured with tablets and herve sounds like something that could be smoked.

So Sammy (or anyone else) perhaps you could enlighten me (& maybe others) to these genres ... whilst I think back to how things used to be - Rock N Roll, Motown, Disco, Rock, Soul & Pop probably covers it - oh how simple life used to be for a DJ on the road tongue out icon

Now that made me chuckle muchly LOL

Baltimora did a blinding tune in the 80s called Tarzan Boy, is it anything to do with that

Im glad its not just me that admits to not knowing what these genres are, would be interested to know as from the sounds of it.....could be right up my street....

Theirs some crossover between club djs and mobile djs.......when we do an 18th we often try to emulate a club feel into the evening so its not a million miles away is it......just your mobile jock has to pack all the gear away at the end, and your club dj can errr socialise with the punters after hes finished :joe:

I would just like to add that the forum welcomes all types of DJ's. It doesn't matter is you are a club, radio or mobile DJ, or bedroom mixer, we all enjoy playing music.

Many of us mobile dj's have been involved in the club scene in the past or possibly are looking to change direction in the future to the club scene.

hopefully sammy won't wander off too quickly, before seeing the majority of replies here on DJU, indeed the only person who's used the word "leaving" was CS and even then a smiley was used

There has been a slight stagger into sarcasm briefly in a post a few days ago on the "who uses video" thread, maybe that was a brief example of behaviour breeds behaviour.

So, new members, please don't read too much negativity into one short sentence, on one reply, on one thread, in one section of this very large forum.

Maybe Sammy could post up the name of a website where examples of the music genre that he promoted at the top of the thread can be listened to (but not downloaded, dependant on terms & conditions/copyright etc)

I wasnt scorning him or trying to make him feel not welcome.....and indeed my very first post in the thread was meant as a "welcome" it dont matter what kind of dj you are kind of post.

I just found Paul's post amusing....

Im genuinly interested to find out what these genres are, so like Gary said, some examples of this kind of music would be great.

Knowing this kind of thing could come in handy when doing 18ths and 21sts so its all relevant to a mobile DJ.

Sammy has been given a warm welcome Here. Only one member has challenged his presence and I believe that subsequent posts have cleared up this misunderstanding.

and also showed your worth by scorning his music . Fantastic .

No I think I showed my lack of knowledge about these genres - if the way I put it offends then I apologise - just trying to add a bit of humour to lighten what was leading towards (& subsequently has turned into) a heavy thread.

Anyway we have Baltimore sorted - just need Sinden & Herve smile icon

hey, guys thanks for the supportive answers...

Herve and sinden are two individual dj's but are known to play together colaberatly....

baltimore is like funky house that is often created with many samples, and sampled remixs making a really fun, get you in the mood for partying type music....

ill give you wikipedia's definition...I think they say it better anyway..

Baltimore club, also called Baltimore breaks, Baltimore house, knucklehead, thump and Dew Doo beat, is a genre of house and dance music. A blend of hip-hop and house, it was created in Baltimore, Maryland in the early 1990s by Scottie B., Frank Ski, Miss Tony aka Big Tony and DJ Spen and has since been performed by artists such as DJ BOOMAN, Rod Lee, KW Griff, Say-Wut, Rod Braxton, Karizma, D.J. Technics, D.J. Phinesse, Diamond K, DJ Patrick, and DJ Kenny B. Female DJ K-Swift is currently one of the most popular DJ's in Baltimore, with her radio shows on 92.3 WERQ.

Baltimore club is exemplified by its 8/4 beat structure and tempos at or near 130 beats per minute. It combines repetitive, looped vocal snippets similar to ghetto house with humorous vocal samples from television shows like Sanford and Son and Sponge Bob SquarePants,

Ill try to post some links to some good baltimore style music when I have the time...
