Eurovision Song Contest

Recommended Posts

I know, I know. It's rubbish, but it's just a bit of fun. I deliberately don't take a gig on eurovision night as it is a good excuse to see my friends and have a few drinks whilst watching the telly. Whether it will be the same without ol' Terry remains to be seen. :joe:

So come on Ladies and Gents ....

1. Who will win ?

2. Where will we come out of 25 entries ?

I'll start

1. Azerbaijan will win

2. We will come 17th

Don't use this as a Eurovision bashing thread please. We know it ain't the same since Bucks Fizz! :D

Thanks ... Dave

Always enjoy Eurovision night. It is a chance for a house party and for everyone to offer their opinion on each entrant as well as the voting! It hasn't been the same for a few years now, a lot of the fun has gone, but it is still watchable.

No idea who's in it, so no idea who'll win it. Let's have a guess at Greece. The English entry will finish 12th (yeh, right!)

On the DJing side, I always play some Euro tracks if I'm working - Bucks Fizz, Abba, Johnny Logan ( :joe: )

I really think the UK entry this year is dreadful, the worst in a long time. You're guaranteed a few laughs with Eurovision though. Enjoy it!

I'm a DJ based in Northern Ireland with nearly 10 years' experience offering a range of services. Including club residencies, karaoke, pub quizzes, specialised wedding service, Master of Ceremonies, Compere, Night at the Races and much more.

Cached some of the Euro Semi's the other night on BBC3. Quite interesting. I think it's sad when the stage visuals totally upstage and blow away the 'talent'. Probably worth watching if you're not working just to see the stage! Brilliant!

While watching, it was said that many of the other countries representatives are already established as artistes in their country...some are very, very established... which got me thinking, why the hell does GB have to look for 'new' talent for such a show if it's really that important?

No disrespect to the current UK offering, but I'd probably pay more attention if the likes of an established UK act was voted for and representing....like the Prodigy! LOL! :D

Anyway, if you get a chance, watch the Bulgarian entry...it is utter, utter :poo: in a side splitting way IMO!

The UK's odds of winning tomorrow night's Eurovision Song Contest have been slashed to their shortest price in years.

British entrant Jade Ewen's 'It's My Time' is now sitting on odds of 10/1 to take home the prize, with William Hill predicting that up to £3 million could be gambled industry wide on the event.

"A lot of our customers are backing Lord Lloyd Webber to prove that he still has the Midas touch and we have drafted in extra staff to cope with demand," said William Hill spokesperson Rupert Adams.

"If the UK win you will see queues outside our shops and millions of pounds will be handed over to Eurovision punters."

It is thought that the industry could have to shell out up to £5 million if the UK do win, but two-time champions Norway remain the even money favourites with their entry, 'Fairytales' by Alexander Rybak.

Also hovering above the UK in the odds table is Greece, who are sitting at 11/2 with popstar Sakis Rouvas's 'This Is Our Night'.

Ireland has failed to make it to this Saturday's final of the Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow.

The seven-time winners did not get past the semi-final phase of the contest for the second year running.

Sinead Mulvey and Black Daisy's song 'Et Cetera' lost out to entries from Albania, Azerbaijan, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Greece, Lithuania, Moldova, Norway and Ukraine.

Other countries eliminated from Thursday's second round of qualifiers were Cyprus, Hungary, Latvia, the Netherlands, Poland, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia.

The successful qualifiers from the first semi-final on Tuesday were Armenia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Finland, Iceland, Israel, Malta, Portugal, Romania, Sweden and Turkey.

Germany, France, Spain and the UK are guaranteed entry in every contest as the major financial contributors to the event, while Russia will compete as champions and this year's hosts.

After the draw for Saturday's final was made, it emerged that UK entrant Jade Ewen will perform 'It's My Time' 23rd in a line up of 25 songs.

But Bulgaria was by far the funniest entry for the Eurovision! I believe they reached the semi-finals.

Moving on - check out (this 2008 entry)...not bad in my opinion.....should have had this track represent them! Deep Zone & Balthazar sing "DJ, Take Me Away!"

I'm gonna try and buy this track! It's catchy!

Best Eurovision, overall, for quite a few years. A lot of lovely ladies, too!! Norton wasn't too bad, quite restrained, I imagine he'll come into his own after a couple of years - you know, really bitchy.

I took quite a shine to Azerbaijain, no idea why
