  1. Hi All

I'm looking for suggestions for songs with a recognisable keyboard, guitar or drum section for a round in a pop quiz so guitar could be guns and roses - sweet child of mine or europe - the final countdown, which could also be used for the keyboards at the start or bruce hornsby - the way it is and for drums something like phil collins - in the air tonight or culture club - victims.

I'm sure that there are plenty of songs out there and when I hear one I go must remember that one and as usual when I sit down to edit them I've forgotten which ones they are, so I'm hoping that you good people will give me some suggestions.

  2. The other thing to remember is, unlike a function where the same people are there for the whole night, pubs/clubs tend to have a transient audience who can be there for the whole night or just a couple of hours. I always found that the current songs had to be played two or three times a night for those who had recently come in but might seem as repeating yourself if you are there all night. As Minty Dave said, if you have 1000 customers a week and a few complaints, I wouldn't worry too much.

  3. I have a haze machine with a variable output. The light haze fluid works ok but it goes through a lot. The heavy stuff lasts longer but 'as it say on the tin', is thicker. I can turn the output but it's not that adjustable, so could I dilute the haze fluid with ionised water?

  4. Stick to the Now Music Cd's......all clean on there!

That's definitely the best advice around. It's so hard to listen for the odd 'f' here and there, particularly with the speed some of these rappers go at.

  5. Not sure if this will lead you to a solution, but there is a similar problem with the HD-2500 when using a playlist. If you have more than 12 songs in a playlist and you then 'fiddle' with the other player whilst the playlist is running, it shows that it's moved on to the next song, but the audio is whatever the 2nd track in your playlist is. It was stated that it was a software glitch and it would appear that you have something similar where the glitch takes you to your default song, originally My Way but when you've reformatted the drive, the location of your default song is now ABBA. You don't say what Karaoke software you're using. Is it up to date as this glitch may have been resolved with an update?

  6. Sheena Easton - U Got The Look

For the benefit of new posters, here is a copy of the first posting in the Music Game

The game is very simple - I give the name of a song title and group/artist, the next person takes ONE word from EITHER song OR group/artist and uses it as a link to another song - group/artist (with me so far?)

i.e. By the rivers of babylon - Boney M

many RIVERS to cross - ub40

    A few rules

    1. Words such as "the, by, on, to" etc ARE valid links

    2. the word that links yours to the previous should be in CAPS please

    3. artist/group can only be repeated if their name is ONE word (other wise you can only use one word in the groups name i.e. link JOHN lennon with elton JOHN)

This means you could use erasure as a link, but rather than turn this into a list of erasure tracks perhaps we could use a little diversity here folks?

Can new posters please ensure that the word being used from the previous post is in capitals, and in bold if possible, which means there is NO need to quote the previous post.

  7. I've used a Denon X500 mixer for over three years and it's covered every eventually I've needed. It has 8 inputs which can be assigned to any of the 4 faders. These can be assigned to either side of the crossfader. Treble, mid and bass eq on each channel as well as on the 2 mic channels. There an aux send and return which again can be assigned to any channel or mic. There's a booth output as well which again can be any channel or main out. There's xlr out, phono out, rec out and a sub out with variable crossover. You can also split the headphone output for mixing. I think that's everything. Oh it's 19" rack mountable as well

  8. For the last question I chose no opinion as I think LED design and brightness will improve, or what I should say is that brightness will become more affordable, as you can get really bright LED units, but they are expensive compared to regular lights. I think that where you use LED and regular side by side, you will notice a difference, but not if they're all LED lights. It's like having sd and hd tv on side by side. You'll notice a difference but if it's just sd telly, then your eyes will get used to it, and it's the same with LED lights.

I have a Revo III, LEDJ Stratos and a ADJ Nucleus, along with a scatter laser and I think it looks good, even better with a little smoke.

Given the cool running and no bulbs to carry and change I think LED lights are the way forward, but given the continuing arguments over vinyl/CDs/digital, people will have the same 'arguments' over lights.

    EACH TO THEIR OWN
