Crisso 0
Hi There, I have been fixing amps & all sorts for years for my friends who run bands etc. I do it in my spare time to help out etc. My occupation is an electronics technician so I know what I'm doing!! I got a Mackie SRM 450 from a friend who said it was noisy, thinking along the lines of PSU ripple etc said I'd take a look. However, upon powering up, I heard the hum and after about 2 minutes it crapped out. Putting input in only gave me sound from the tweeter. I checked the connections for the speakers etc and found one measured 6.4 ohms (approx) and the other was open...so it looks as if the woofer coil has gone. Can anyone tell me what the resistance onthe woofer coil should be please? Thx

norty303 0
8ohms would be the nominal impedance. You should measure somewhere between 5 and 6 ohms DIY plans and pro audio related technical discussions www.speakerplans.com/forum
