  1. Sorry yeah got the link wrong, it got me last time with that too. The speakers are THESE ones. As for the set up, its no different to two of my other friends who have the same deal and they have had no problems. Technics 1210's > into mixer > into SPEAKERS. As for the "100v line and 8 ohm connection", I'm not sure on that. So this relay thing, is that inside the speaker with the amp in?
  2. Hello Following on from THIS thread I have a problem with my replacement SPEAKERS The one without the amp in, keeps loosing sound, and the only way I can get it to come back it to "reboot" the speakers, by which I mean pull the flex, and then put it back in. Then they play for a bit, then the sound goes again and the speakers need rebooting. I've looked at the speaker connections (externally) and they seem ok, of not a little loose, but nothing too bad. Cant take them back, and I'm sure its just a loose connection somewhere but could be wrong. Any ideas greatly appr
  3. It'll be OK. I'm sure I can manage to get the recordings sorted. I'd rather turn up with a 16gb usb pen drive, than have the hassle of getting a mate to carry my records. Most of them will be carrying their own anyway. I'll give the advice a bash this weekend. Cheers
  4. Ahhhh ok, never thought of that. I guess I just run it through the mixer because the earth for the deck attaches to the back of the mixer. Suppose I could just have the mixer on, and the deck earth to it, then run the RCA lead to the soundcard input. Sounds like a plan. Think I'll await what this Nik Andrews may hve to say before I give it another bash. Thanks for the hints Dukesy!
  5. Hello. After some advice please. I've got a gig/rave to play at on may 23rd. I was going to take my vinyl as there will be decks set up but I broke a rib at football on sunday and now dont want to carry the weight - as it hurts . I've found out that someone is taking Serato SL1, so I can take MP3s instead. Now, I have a Soundblaster Fatal1ty sound card (which is good) and my set up at home is such that my 1210s are plugged into the mixer (ecler nuo2), and the record out from the mixer goes into the line in on the sound card through RCA leads. Essentially I'll be recordin
  6. Do mixers have DC protection? Mine is a Ecler NUO2. Would that be protected against DC audio if something goes wrong? Cant find anything about it anywhere. Just a passing thought.
  7. SSD are Solid State HDDs, so essentially no moving parts. A bit like a usb pen-drive, but HDD size. No moving parts, nothing can fail, so more reliable. What it might mean to DDJ's is simply more reliability I guess. Oh and in response to VOKF, with laptops they usually come with an manufacturers image recovery disk which takes 5 mins to reinstall, not hours. Well, from what I've experienced anyway (Sony/Samsung/Rock/Stone/Fujitsu-Seimens/RM/Elonex) other brands may have to be reinstalled off CD's but to be honest, I dont know anyone that uses CD's/DVDs to restore things anymore.
  8. If the problem was a hard-disk failure, how can he justify attempting to charge for a new laptop? What a clown. tongue out icon Always back up your stuff. Its daft not to. Agree with Ben about running two laptops, risks two laptops. I'm sure a party could wait whilst the other laptop booted up, a couple of mins or so wouldnt be too much of a bother at a gig. I think it might build up the atmosphere anyway, if everything dies, and the DJ fixes it in a few mins, hes usually hailed as a hero for saving the day, if the gig is down for only one second, yeah nobody will notice, b
  9. Thanks for that, I'm guessing thats exactly what happened. I only noticed the "get something else they are pants" post after I got back with the replacements but they seem OK.
  10. Well, I took them back and got them swapped for a new pair. They were OK for what they were and for £40 I thought it was a steal, I wont be pushing them really hard, these are just for home use, I have a dughter so they'l never get cranked up. I think they'll be OK for me, but may ask for your advice next time I want some speaker. One more question: What does "Gone DC on the outputs" mean? Can you explain? I feel stupid but am not the most confident person when it comes to electronics/speaker hardware and am curious to know what happened to them Thank you.
  11. They havent been pushed at all I was listening to some music whilst I washed up in the next room, and its open plan so no need to be loud. So annoyed. By "whats wrong" I guess I meant, what causes a loud humming noise when they are plugged in? I'm not good with speaker hardware so dont understand whats causing it.
  12. Hi. Bought some of these powered speakers on saturday, worked fine saturday, sunday, today one of them popped and they are both making a very loud humming noise whether plugged into an audio source or not. I have two Technics 1210s, one Ecler mixer and the speakers. I also have my laptop plugged into the speakers so I can listen to internet radio stations. Was listeneing to a staion tonight and this happened. Totally gutted. Whats wrong? Have I blown them up. Only had them two days can I take them back as faulty? Pleas advise. LINK CORRECTED!! Sorry that
  13. Excellent! thanks for the advice.
  14. OK good idea (why I didnt just think of that I dont know, I just asumed i'd be able o buy a convertor). Now this "unit" is built inside a mdf box, obviously with air vents for the PSU, I also have a pc and other electrical equipment on top of it. If I buy an aerial and mount the "rod" (?) inside the box for stealth purposes, is the other electrical equipment going to interfere with the signal when listening to the radio?
  15. Ok so I've fitted a computer power supply and a car stereo in my bedroom for giggles. It works fine I just need advice on the following. I have an aerial (internal fm) which is like this one.... It has a female coax connector on the end (a bit different to the one in the picture its not exactly the same) like an old tv aerial connector. My question is, does anyone know how to adapt it so I can use it as the FM aerial for the car head unit. It needs to be attached to a aerial plug such as this one but I cant find a connector. OR... if anyone knows how to solder one, tha
