After about a year of pondering and planning out an alternative to my super-bulky light screen (which I no longer have space for in my car after the purchase of my RCF sub) I finally came up with something...

33x45mm pine (painted in black gloss), four 3mm sheets of opal acrylic, lift-off hinges... about £100 all in, and definitely worth it. I haven't got a weight value for them, but with each screen apart they're really lightweight; I'd hazard a guess at about 6-8kg each. Certainly a lot lighter and more compact than traditional lightscreens.

 

Got it backlit by two ADJ MegaBar 50's, but am thinking about getting one Mega Panel LED to light it instead, and using the MegaBars as floods on my goalpost lighting rig.

 

But would certainly recommend this as a potential project if you're into DIY and have a bit of time (and a little cash!) to spare.
