Sunborn Yatch Hotel

Recommended Posts

Just been to view the Sunborn Yatch Hotel in Docklands.

Taken some photos of function rooms.

Sunborn Yatch Hotel

There are 2 function rooms on separate floors. The top floor, The Sun Deck, is usually used for weddings while the second floor is smaller. Approx sizes are on link.

One thing I did not like is the power supply. This is furnished with round continental style sockets, although the venue supplies adapters. I didn't have my tester with me, but I am a little concerned that these sockets do not normally conform to BS standards. When I do the show next month I will check the earth and let you know about it. Perhaps Ian knows as the Party Organiser was very vague about it.

I was told that entrance is through main doors straight into adjoining lifts which are close to function room doors (did you use this Ian?) There is a loading bay area immediately in front of the main doors so only 20ft to carry gear and about the same from lift into function room. Large parking area as it is in Excel.

And if you're really safety conscious there are no lifeboats. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif

Further to my previous report, I tested the sockets for earthing and all are OK.

With regards to the parking it's £2 per hour or £10 over night. Ticket must be validated at reception prior to leaving.

Access was as I said. I took a trolley but they have flat-bed luggage trolleys that you could probably use. I was allowed to set-up in afternoon and staff, especially Stacey Kemp, the functions manager, were extremely helpful. They asked if I required any tables etc and provided the socket adapters.

The only problem I had was the portable dance floor. This decided to "walk" 3 feet across the room and then began to come apart. I brought it to the attention of the manager on H&S grounds as they might end up with a claim. He said it would be sorted out asap. (This will not be a problem on the sun-deck which has a fixed floor just the function rooms on level 4)

All the staff were friendly and helpful. They liaise with the guests and formulate a plan of action with you so the various events ran smoothly.

D'oh, just got to read this Robbie!

Just one question about the parking. Is this a public car park which users of the hotel get a refund for? I guess not!

Good useful report, thanks Robbie.

Brian, it's ticket on entry and pay at the hotel before you leave. As Ian said it is the public car park but pretty quiet at night and plenty of space. It's right outside the entrance.

If I had known the cost I might have thought of adding into quote. Still next time I'll know all the costs. If you are setting up early and returning in evening it could work out expensive.

Richard, I keep telling people, I really am dyslexic and so are a couple of my daughters.
