Do you think advertising your age to clients is a good idea? wouldn't they be put off booking a dj who was so young?.

I don't make a big deal of advertising that i'm 32 on my literature http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/smile.gif . Surely you should be selling your business to your clients and your skills as a DJ on your business cards and using any slogan to this advantage, rather than in relation your age?.

I agree with Chris on this one.

I only advertise the fact that I'm female (which I might add, works quite well) not that I'm 41

They don't call me Krazy for nothing! Krazy by name - Krazy by nature !!!

Age doesn't matter, unless you're a cabinet!

Hi,

I started doing my first small scale partys at the age of 12 to people i know or family friends. I found that i did not need to advertise my age as most of my business was through word of mouth. You need build up a reputation with a consistant name and slogan.

I decided on MatDJ when i was 12, when i was 15 and more confident I added the slogan 'Sound Experience.'

All in all your age should not bother you, your gigs will start off by word of mouth and in a few years your age makes no diference what so ever, just as long as you speak to the people on the phone and if you dont know them you could introduce it to them in some way.

Matt.

Ryan, make the business cards look professional, and be as professional as you can. People will then start to disregard your age. Trust me, its hard being a 15 year old DJ http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/sad.gif people think we are inexperienced and are gonna take them for a ride http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/188.gif ah well. tis life i guess http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/offtopic.gif

A lot of DJ's have all been there, and back then we didn't have the internet to help us http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif

If you read the interviews section, you'll see that a lot of DJ's started out in their early teens, and these are the same DJ's who are trying to advise you today http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/tongue.gif. Listen to what they are telling you, learn from their mistakes.

If Dj'ing is truely something that you want to do, and if you go the right way about it, then you'll do okay, but nobody said it was easy, and it does take a lot of work and effort. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/patriot.gif
