ChrisPointon 0
I know this is along shot, but I know that there are a few techy types on the forum. Does anybody have access to a Yamaha P4500 Service Manual?. I just need to check the value of a couple of components http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/smile.gif
otronics 0
Is this any good? No doubt you have seen that - the block diagram doesn't give values of anything though. Only general spec's given. What parts are you after...can you not read what is on the existing ones or are they non-existant? http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/fear.gif Anything on the IC? Nice amp! Good luck on fixing the channel. Oliver Head, OTronics Media Services Ltd, Covering Wiltshire, Somerset, Dorset and surrounding areas. ChrisPointon 0
Thanks Oliver, but its the service manual I need, rather than the user manual http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/thumbup.gif I need to double check the value of a diode which has burned beyond recognition, and isn't marked on the other channel either, i'm guessing its a signal diode but need to be 100% sure!. Also a to92 style transistor which is just maked "399" - could be any letter or prefix such as 2SA1399 and these Japanese transistors have several letter / number variations http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/533.gif I've got the pcb refs if anybody has a manual http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif
FDDJ 0
Found the P4500 Service Manual for you Chris, the downside is it will cost you $14.99! otronics 0
Yep, was just about to get onto that! You can get loads of manuals for different things but need to pay for them. Maybe Superstardeejay has something or knows where to look.... http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/smile.gif Oliver Head, OTronics Media Services Ltd, Covering Wiltshire, Somerset, Dorset and surrounding areas. superstardeejay 0
Well thanks for the vote of confidence OT! I have to say that I've NEVER had to repair a Yamaha power amplifier..I dont have the P4500 SM sorry. Yamaha Kemble UK can supply most parts direct, I dare say their engineer would tell you over the phone about the mystery parts...he's been helpful to us in the past, though we tend to do more of the keyboards. I do have the P2200 diagram, it uses output transistors 2SA909s and 2SC1586s. Is this any use.? .
superstardeejay 0
Is your strange transistor exactly a TO92 can, or is it slightly elongated? .
ChrisPointon 0
Slightly elongated. Flat at the front and back as opposed to one surface being semi-circular. Thinner than a standard BC series it's not an output transistor, this has exploded in the middle of the board, and has a zener and two what look like signal diodes burned out around it. I'll post the component reference number tomorrow, just on the off chance that the P2200 uses some of the same ref's and a similar layout - slim I know!.
superstardeejay 0
Then maybe it's an NTE399?? NTE399 datasheet See what u think!! But it has a rounded side so not quite sure. I bet Yamaha would sell you some .
ChrisPointon 0
http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/signdammit.gif - you've given me another one to consider now! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/fear.gif
ChrisPointon 0
Kev, The transistor is marked "993" as opposed to "399" which I mentioned earlier. Board reference is Q108 Not sure whether the references will be the same on the P2200, maybe a long shot. Otherwise i'll have to bite the bullet and get the Service Manual http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/fear.gif
superstardeejay 0
The transistors on my diagram are all maked TR101, TR102 etc. TR108 (for example) is an NPN type 2SC1213A which drives TR112 which is a 2SB536. I'm sure you've concluded like me that it's probably a 2SA, 2SB or 2SC..lets hope only one of these is in the package you need! .
superstardeejay 0
QUOTE Well thanks for the vote of confidence OT! I have to say that I've NEVER had to repair a Yamaha power amplifier..I dont have the P4500 SM sorry. Well guess what. Yep, first Yam in yesterday, not a P4500 but a Cinema amp, cant remember the model...the customer wanted it for the weekend so I did it quick. Outputs had blown (to247), taken the drivers (to126), one bias transistor (to92 immersed in heatsink compound on the heatsink), 2 0.33R 3W emitter resistors, a couple of 0.25W fusible resistors (I think 330R and 100R or something) and, yes, a small signal-type diode. That diode looked like the others on the board, like a tiny glass 1n4148 but smaller, with a blue band at the end. Turned out to be a 12V zener, some form of bias reference. It sounded particularly nice in the end, but a complete Dog's Breakfast to take apart. Dunno what the designer was on at THAT point. .
Cliff 0
Well seems i have the same problem. I have transistor marked 395 on my yamaha p4500 that need s to be replced. May you be knowing its correct digits.
