Elite 0
Not sure if anyone can point me in the right direction, but I have decided to go digital with Karaoke and load all my discs onto my computer. I have a Macbook Pro and have Numark Cue DJ software which will handle the Karaoke side just fine. The problem I have is that my computer's built in drive will not read the graphic part of the track, so presumably I need to invest in a drive that can do this. Can anyone recommend an external drive that will read CDG's and work with a Macbook, preferably one which connects via Firewire? Thanks...
flash911 0
are you sure its not the software ?
Elite 0
Fairly sure, yes. I'm sure that the software will play whatever is loaded into the computer (or even in the drive), its just that the drive is not capable of reading a CDG file - I've looked all over the internet and the general opinion is that Macbook drives cannot read CDG's. gadget 0
"The only MacBook drives that support CD+G are the "HL-DT-ST" drives, but they are very rare. All others do NOT support CD+G. This is due to Apple's driver ONLY supporting "native" CD+G drives (most are not)." http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=406766 DJ David Graham Tel: 01204 537716 / 01942 418415 Email: hello@djgraham.co.uk FB: http://facebook.com/djdavidgraham Web: [under construction - it really is coming soon :)]

AlexEntertainment 0
Unfortunately the guys are right.... Not all CD drives can read the CDG section. I actually found a guy on ebay that sells them for a few quid.....I'll see if I can find his account. They are internal drives, but I'm sure you could find a way to mount or connect. The other option is look at getting a cheap base unit from ebay and installing the drive in that. Ok... found a full list of CD Drives that will allow you to rip discs... http://www.karaoke-tutor.com/mp3g.html Simply ebay search some of them and you'll find some for about £5 ------------------------------------------- Web : http://www.alexentertainment.co.uk Web : http://www.alexskaraoke.co.uk Phone : 07525 645750 / 0800 612 4979 email : alex@alexentertainment.co.uk --------------------------------------------
