  1. part time dj, aim for 1-2 gigs a week. full time product design consultant. Freelance graphic/web designer.
  2. Id have a good think about the situation and depending on the gig i have booked decide what to do. Most of the work i have is regular so i would honour the booking and pass on the work to a fellow dj i know is very good. I know the regular client is worth more in the long run.
  3. I tend to find 21st as some of the most difficult gigs in my area. I think the fact that they have left school for a few years means there is a more even mix of family and friends and this means i find it harder to please everyone. This usually involves hearing the old cliches like play something good etc... I try to bridge the generation gap and generally play all the usual cheese but incorporating a few 90's classics like the vengaboys and some popular 80's stuff like tiffany, whitney housten, 9 to 5 etc... these are pretty popular with the younger guests. then there are a fair am
  4. Wheras every function tends to be different i still have a few songs that i play at most gig's and they are the usual cheese classics like the YMC, cha cha slide, time warp etc... even when i think they wont work i get a request for one and everyone goes mad for it!! deano

  7. Am i being stupid??, but i cant find the for sale section??? cheers, Dean
  8. Hi Guys, Thanks very much for all the replies i am interested in the abstract lights and they look great from all the reviews ive read, how many mirrors are cracked??? . I am also interested in how much your after for your dynamos Dale as i would possibly buy more effects if i can afford it. Id ideally like to have some barrels and scanners in my show. The idea of the dmx controller sound appealing but im put off a bit by the time needed to program the show as i dont have a lot of spare time to learn dmx. Cheers for the replies guys Deano
  9. Hi Guys, looking to purchase some scanners/barrels as an addition to my setup, does anyone have any for sale?? I would ideally like scimitar/insignia/leo/rover type effects nothing too expensive as i only have a couple of hundred pounds to spend. Been looking at the dynamo set brand new but im not too sure of the brightlness and though that possible the 250w would be better. If anyone is selling Dynamps i may also be interested. Thanks, Dean
  10. Hi Guy, If your after work in a large venue or club night then its usually better to get a mix tape to one of the promoters and wait for a responce. Im based on the wirral too, where abouts are you?? i also design flyers for a few large club nights in liverpool mainly, hard dance, techno and trance and could get a mix tape to the promoters for you if thats your genre. 11. Hi Guys, I am currently looking to invest in some karaoke equipment as i am increasingly being asked for this service and would like to add it to my setup. I currently only have the need for it once or twice a month so my initial investment isnt going to be huge maybe a basic player a few mics and a tft monitor. Does anyone have any reccomendations for a player? ive seen this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ULTIMATE-DIVX-PROFES...1QQcmdZViewItem and it look fairly good, esp the usb function which allows the connection of an external hard drive. any advice would be gre
  12. Cheers for all the advice guys, after looking about for a while i think im gonna get the stairville/isolution barrells. They do look amazing and the video on their chinese site looks impressive. At the moment i can only see the stairville scanners on the thomann site, is this all they sell or do they get the barrels in stock? If it is i'l have to purchase the isoloution ones instead at the higher price. Thanks, Deano
  13. Thanks very much for all the info guys, I have seen a smal video of the isoloution/stairville lights and they do look great, especially for the price thomann sell them for. Im not too sure about the size tho but maybe for the effect they are worth it? I think i will invest in them as they do look impressive and the gobos and colours look good also. Do you think it would be best to but 2 barrells or 2 scanners?? im after some coverage but im aware that the barrels can be annoying for guests sitting in their path. Do the scanners have a good coverage on the dancefloor? Most of my
  14. Hi, im after some advice on the next lights to buy for my setup. I currently have 2 chuvet fascinations, 2x source colour blades, 1 x constella tristar 2 I ideally would like advice on the best dmx scanners or barrels to buy to make my setup more impressive and lok to moveing into dmx a bit more. My budget is about 300 - 400 pounds and im looking for 2 - 4 lights I have looked at the STAIRVILLE SCANNER ELC 250W SC250H x2 or would it be better to get 4 simitars barrels and scans? or the acme dynamos/ eurolite scanners???? They all look very good. any advice a
  15. Hi, I always use a combination of adobe Photoshop and illustarator, they are the industry standard and great to use. They do cost a fair bit to buy but you can download trial version from the adobe site and get hundreds of tutorials on the web. There are however many alternatives to adobe that you can use, it really depends on how you use them as they all have very similar user interfaces. If your looking for a professional job though it may be best paying someone to do it. hope this helps, Dean
