Dukesy 0
Is it just my choice of products, or is Thomann slowly beginning to lose its competitive edge against the UK Disco Equipment Retailers? I've just noticed a huge price increase on the QSC K12's i've had my eye on for a while, up from £625 last week to £725 today :wall: , which isn't a lot different to the £730 i've been quoted from a High Street retailer, i'm sure with some haggling, the high street retailer would come down a tenner or so from £730, making them potentially cheaper than Thomann, which for me is a first, as for some years, Thomann have always been notably cheaper than UK entities, at least in my experience. Its not just this one line either, an LED Par Can I'd bookmarked has gone up by nearly a fiver also, as well as a few other things i'd been browsing. Seems that Thomann.de have just had some kind of very recent price increase and in some cases, not a small increase either!, so it might be worth re-checking the difference between them and the UK sources and shopping around first, if you are planning on buying product from them anytime soon, you may find the same product in stock locally which is now cheaper. gadget 0
Can't remember exactly, but Pulse PAR Cans are cheaper than the stairville counterparts, probably both made by the same manufacturer too.. (151 5mm LED jobbies). Has the Euro price gone up also? Dukesy 0
Has the Euro price gone up also? Its varies slightly from day to day but it would be one hell of a hike to add £100 to the price, almost overnight At first I suspected that QSC had perhaps upped the buy price and in the interim Thomann were selling old stock of the K12 based on the 'old' price they had previously bought at, as their stock is currently showing zero. But the increases also seem to have carried across on existing stock of other products too.

Nah I meant their base prices are in Euros, so wondered if their "base" price in Euros went up... :) DJ David Graham Tel: 01204 537716 / 01942 418415 Email: hello@djgraham.co.uk FB: http://facebook.com/djdavidgraham Web: [under construction - it really is coming soon :)]
Dukesy 0
More likely they read my 'shopping list' and put the prices on it up just to hack me off..... :ads: :lil devil: :scared: Looks like I picked the wrong week to give up :norfolk:
gadget 0
I hate that when that happens, you put stuff in your basket thinking yeah thats a bargain but dont go and checkout for a day or so to find the price have gone up Or the other way where you just bought something only to find its got 25% off after you purchased! :damn: :wall: DJ David Graham Tel: 01204 537716 / 01942 418415 Email: hello@djgraham.co.uk FB: http://facebook.com/djdavidgraham Web: [under construction - it really is coming soon :)]
Norfolk DJ 0
Those K12's were a cracking buy at Thomanns. The price increase doens't make it worthwhile? Are the FBT's Maxx4's a better buy on there. They looked too a good buy a few months back? Thomanns need to be 15% cheaper ivo to make it worthwhile buying from them. They used to be a great place to buy, but sionce the Euro exchange rate collapsed from 1.5 Euro to the pound it's not so good.
Dukesy 0
Those K12's were a cracking buy at Thomanns. The price increase doens't make it worthwhile? Yep, at £625 each they were a steal, wished that i'd got in there now whilst it lasted. Then again, Thomann don't exactly have Sales as such and previously their prices were fairly stable. I did a double take when I visited again yesterday and saw them up for £725.53 each - thats a £200 per pair increase. Lots of UK distributors around offering these in the £730 - £750 region who could probably be haggled with and a wad of cash being put in front of them is a good bargaining tool in order to cement a deal and to match or even beat Thomann's price. I wouldn't have expected a UK disty to come down from £730 to match Thomanns original £625 but a £10 or £20 margin is now fair game for haggling, i'm sure QSC's margin allow for it . The FBT MAXX 4A are offered on Thomann at £583.60 each. But again, this is actually less combined output power than the QSC RMX Amp / EV Passive Speaker combination I'm using at the moment, and i'm a bit reluctant to spend £1000 - £1400 on a pair of speakers which have a considerably lower output power than an existing system i'm using, and i'd probably need to rely on an active sub more with a lower powered set of cabs, even at medium sized venues. The K12's in comparison, at 1000W RMS per speaker, will give me more headroom and offer more watts per £ . I'm one of these DJ's who prefers to run a higher rated system at a smaller fraction of its output capacity to achieve the same coverage as thrashing a smaller system at 80 - 100% of its capacity 500W per cab is realistically my minimum, 600 - 750w per cab would be ideal and anything above 750W per cab would be a considerable bonus. I think i'm going to have to await something in the used / ex-demo market and wait for a few bands to split up..... Bear in mind, i'm effectively looking to buy a suitable replacement to directly replace the output power, venue coverage & SPL of 2x Bose L1's and 4x Bose B1's
Dukesy 0
Looks like Thomann's prices are certainly on the move, upwards. Another, 2nd price rise on the K12's has now taken them to £755.07 each. This is the second price increase on these within a month, and as documented above on the thread. http://www.thomann.de/gb/qsc_k_12.htm Certainly no longer competitive on some items in respect of UK prices anymore. You can now beat that price on the K12's virtually everywhere online http://www.theaudioworksuk.com/index.php/n...oudspeaker.html http://www.dv247.com/pa-systems-and-live-s...-speaker--65722 http://www.absolutemusic.co.uk/store/live-...a-speaker-15947 http://www.mercury-av.com/sales/qsc-k12-pa...ker-3328-0.html Once again, it might be worth checking and shopping around now, as Thomann do seem to be rapidly losing their competitive edge against UK suppliers. Mercury AV were the cheapest i've have come across and are happy to do a deal. At your price range, the RCF 712A's are a serious contender and on the plus side of things they are 750 watts per cab. You won't need to use a sub very often with them.

I can definitely recommend Mercury AV, I bought some EV speakers from them and they were the cheapest by a mile.......but don't go by their web prices as you have to phone to do a deal. When I mentioned to him that I was looking for some pioneer kit and he didn't stock it....within 10 minutes he had beaten the best price I had found by £100 on CDJ2000's and delivery was next day.........worth giving them a ring. The oldest swinger in town....... probably. Happy Easter.. well I have seen easter eggs in the shops
