I've got a few enquires & bookings to deal with, TAX returns to submit. Also got a few people from other forums able to help with my Karaoke CD+G requests, so hopefully will start to get a few discs soon.

I've got a web project underway, so may find time to work on that..

Also need to find my decree absolute so we can book the registrar for our wedding. :pro:

The Date will be 5th November, so fireworks each year!... and rain :(

Haha, nice one Ray..

Nowt this weekend, tax return to do ZZZzz... Got to be all done before monday, as sadly I've got a funeral to go to then :(

I Did a retirement party last weekend at a nice Golf Club.. Nice low ceiling on the stage.. I ended up doing this to one of the datamoons a few times:- :wall: Oh and I'm so glad I have a backup amp as my main one the Left Channel decided to stop working before I'd even started... *sigh* That and a faulty DMX lead as well...(!)

I did think about ressurecting this thread for last weekend, but I was busy doing repairs and stuff (stupid star cloth)

Honestly think someone came into the office over christmas and started to break things when I wasn't there!

Cheers,

David

Doing my res tonight and a 21st tomorrow night, my wed night karaoke res was cancelled this week, and won't be back until April at the earliest due to falling numbers :( so weekend gigs only from now until then. Even Friday nights are looking shaky, pubs seem to be getting quieter and quieter as the weeks go by.

I have my first of many, many weddings of the year in Christchurch this evening.

Bit of a trek to get into the hall, and a few steps.

Parking was a bit bad last time too. However, as long as I can get stuff without too much fuss then all will be well.

Doesn't matter so much when packing away. Finish at 23:00 too so should be plenty of time at the end to get things loaded.

Hehe, nope. You have to remember, I'm a lowy DJ, not an Accountant! lol

Its basically a smallish hotel.

I played at a very local Marriott Hotel last weekend, and we're glad we never considered that as a Venue. The Venue had total lack to respect and for the B&G from their arrival until the end of the night.

Many features of the "wedding package" were not forthcoming (even their room was not allocated when they arrived after their church service).

I was able to hear some of the B&G's questions, and the staff simply didn't know, or could not speak english. The management/wedding co-ordinator was not to be found.

I let Carmen take over and had a bit of a pep talk with them. I think they were firing off a complaint the day after!

So... when on a tight budget, we all know things can get a big scary - but we did check out reviews on our venue and we're both in Hitched (I'm a paying supplier, Carmen is a B2B), the other Brides who know the place said it was great which confirmed other online reviews (hopefully not from the same people lol).

They did offer their in-house DJ @ £300, who may have been fine - but we did want someone we knew - its just a matter of meeting up to discuss requirements.

Carmen has a photographer in mind, and we need to meet them as well. Interestingly, the tog does not specialise in weddings, but has a nice style - and is full-time.

The current question for us is - inviting kids of not! lol

If we do invite kids, there will potentially be "lots", and some will be well behaved, others will be difficult!

I'm tempted to ask my lad, Ryan to be head of security and keep the others in line :D

Friday Night - Doing PA and Lights for the mrs md's band - pub acoustic night

Saturday - Hairdressers award night - :bloodyhell:

sunday - kids party

question is why are some musicians so up themselves. I arranged fridays gig, ran round sorting everything out, sourced a load of muso's to do some slots, took a load of my gear, used my van, paid for the minibus out of my own back pocket for the extra muso's, ran the desk all night, drove all the gear home etc............... all for free.

Not a problem, its the mrs doing something she loves and i had nowt to do.

however the toys soon came out of the pram. The "headline act", bear in mind it was a village pub and just a glorified informal open mic night, finished at 11.40 after an encore. they downed tools and went out for a fag

the landlord and locals said "is that it, we are just warming up????, beer was offered so i invited 1 or 2 to do an encore, which they were more than happy to do.

All hell broke loose. you would think i had booted Iron maiden off the stage and asked Jedward to fill in.

:omg: I cant believe an adult could act like that. How dare i put a support act on after a headliner etc etc etc it got very personal and i was called every name under the sun. Fortunately we were all inside singing american pie a the time and i was informed once we had all split into different directions. very tactful of mrs md.

needless to say was after dropping the rest of the gear off to people this morning, they had been advised to buy their own Van, Lights, Pa Rig and get some other eeejot to run round the countryside after them. :moon:

back to DJing tonight thank god! Only Me Myself and I to argue with.
