Nrgize Disco 4. How long have you been DJ'ing? 6 years 5. What inspired you to become a DJ? Starting Off as a little kid I used to like the lights at a disco. Then got interested in the music. 6. What type of "Do" was your first gig? My first proper gig that I done on my own was for my works' Store Manager's leaving do. 7. How much did you charge I got paid £80 in CD's 8. What equipment did you have to begin with? 2 x Stage Line Speakers, PPX Amp, Kam CD player and mixer, 1 Abstract Twister 4, A mirror ball, and a chaser unit, and cheap lighting stand! 9. Whats the worst/most embarassing thing you've done in front of an audience? Probably stopping the wrong side of the CD player whilst Bride and Groom where dancing to their first dance. First time I ever been really embarressed and went red! 10. What is your favourite type of function now? EG: Wedding, 18th Birthday party, etc? Between Wedding receptions and 40th Birthday parties. 11. Is there anything that you include in your show now, that you wish you'd done/known when you started? (Not equipment, but in human/performer terms) I am more confident now on the mic, when starting off didnt tend to use the mic alot. When i make mistakes I TRY to make a joke of it. 12. What do you feel you offer your public, that makes you a better DJ than "the next guy/girl"? I play the music they want to hear not what I want to hear, friendly service, reliable, and try to make every disco different so the night is never forgotten. 13. Have you ever bought something for your show that you wish you hadnt? and why? Laser Crab, as the light that comes from it isn't bright enough to use at venues. 14. Whats your next DJ purchase likely to be? Some Soundlab Gyroscans, (ones with rotating gobos!) 15. If you could get someone to invent a new piece of disco equipment for your show, what would it be? A robot roadie that doesnt need paying! 16. What do you think is the best thing about DJ'ing? I enjoy seeing people having a good time dancing to the music I'm playing! Also I have big interest in the equipment that is involved 17. What do you think is the worst thing about DJ'ing? Carrying the gear about ! 18. What would make you stop DJ'ing (if anything)? If unable to work due to illness 19. How do you think DJ'ing will change, in the next 5 years? I think it will involve a lot more of computerisation, hopefully not making us DJ's redundant. 20. Most stupid thing anyone's ever said to you at a gig? Are you the DJ ? As I am wearing the headphones changing the song over. 21. Best advice you were ever given by a fellow DJ? Be yourself and enjoy it! 22. And worst advice you were ever given? Use lighting screens! 23. Name 3 songs that 95% of the time will fill you dance floor! What equipment do you currently use? 2 x Martin Adventurers 2 x Martin Ego 1's 2 x Source Blades 1 x Martin T-Rex 1 x Abstract Twister 3 2 Lighting Stands and Ladderlite Neon Blue Ropelights, Jem Technofog, Pro Sound Bubble Machine, Kam KCD 990, and Audio Pro Mixer, Peavey Pro 15's and PV 1500 Amp, Stageline speakers and Peavey 1200amp. and best not foget my 2 fans! 30. How much have you "invested" in equipment? £4000 31. What was your reason for becoming a DJ? Love of Music and equipment of DJ Trade, and making customers happy of course 32. Approximately how many gigs have you done to date? Not entirely sure, but roughly 150, could be more or less. But am out DJing moreless every week. Since interview have changed my mind on Soundlab Gyrocscans though. Chris has advised me about them and I think I have changed my mind to Soundlab colourscans. Ads, found ya topic about disco names! nrgize 0 Posted September 8, 2004 Report Share Posted September 8, 2004 I should add that the only reason I would use them for in my bedroom is to lack of space in transporting them to a gig.
