  1. Hi guys and gals sadly i hung up my headphones at christmas and retired from DJing after 28 years. its sods law that at my last gig one of my active fbt maxx 4 speakers packed up. it was working in the afternoon while i was setting up but as soon as i turned it on again in the evening the green light lit up for a second and then died. i tried the usual changing leads and various wall sockets but with no joy. the only thing i can think it is is a fuse on the internal amp. as they are sealed units with gas injection moulding i didnt want to unscrew the amp before getting advice first.
  2. Hi wwfc and welcome to the forum. the advice i was given when i bought my first pair of actives 4 years ago was to set the bass and treble to 12 oclock and the volume to 1 oclock and then use your mixer to set the required volume. even though actives cabs volume can go all the way round to roughly 6 oclock its best not to push them this much as it can damage the cones and over power the amp especially if you are playing for 5-6 hours at a gig. jim

  5. 70s gig saturday night. this has been my first gig since new years eve. ive been doing my residency for over 12 years now and have just been undercut by a cowboy. as it was my regular i only charged £175 which is £75 off but this cowboy has offered to do their discos for £100 and as you can guess im not a happy chappy.
  6. the latter Gary. if you look at the last picture it shows the AW-FX screen. you have a drop down menu on the left to choose what you want to change and then just press the colour on the main screen.
  7. you can deactivate any of the lights. youve got the alien head on the lid, the mousepad, the touch sensitive controls and the light pipe around the edge of the screen. i know they are an expensive gimmick but it was the speed of the machine that made me buy it.

lips inc is a strange one to work out. ive got the original 12" but it is stored away with the many thousands of records ive still got and it would mean ripping my shelving apart to search for it. i always thought it was the earl 80s but on the sites i checked it varied from 1976 to 1993. strangely enough the site i took the date from said varified next to the date and that was 1993. oh well, time to dismantle all my shelving in my room tonight.

    70s Music Advice

i did ask a couple of weeks ago about some of your suggestions (great minds think alike) but was told NO its got to be mainly cheesy disco and we are not allowed to take requests. as its a charity do i will have a bucket behind the decks and if anyone is willing to part with some more cash i will play their requests. anything to make more money for the charity is my main objective. was also thinking of asking some of the girls to bring some waxing strips with them and for a tenner they can wax any willing participants. ohhh the pain tongue out icon
