  1. Hi everyone, I just wanted to know about the quality of amps, is it the old senario you get what you for. The reason I'm asking is I have a carlsboro 500w amp and so far it's blown 2 lots of cabs. The first set starting smouldering during a kids party, admittedly the jbls I was using were only rated at 150w RMS but it was'nt exactly loud. The second time which was last night, again I boobed by allowing the singer to plug into my mixer but anyway the set up was 1x1500w peavey amp driving some 350w 4ohm bass bins and I had a pair of Studio spares (they're based on the same spec as the jbl eon r
  2. I know this ain't a patch on Stevie's experience but I came home yesterday and the old boy from next door came out to me and said a young lad had been into his garden asking about the size of fence panels. He told the lad the fence did'nt belong to him and that it was mine, so the guy said okay I'll go round and see him. With that, the old bloke shuts his door and goes inside, and the young guy comes round to my house, walks down into the garden and nicks one of my 6ft panels. The house unfortunately was empty at the time. What a cheek!!! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/thumbdown.gif

  4. So you put mixer, mic etc.. all in one bag?? http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/533.gif
  5. Hi, just a quick question, i've just bought myself a laptop and wondered how other djs carry theirs about. Do you have custom made flight cases or something?? http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/533.gif
  6. Hi sorry for the delay, I've moved my PC from one room to another and can't get any internet from my router. Thanks for all your replies, I could use my jog wheel but I did'nt want to mess about taking my mini disc player down stairs and setting it all up. All I need is about 30 secs of a song so I'll try some of the programs that people have suggested. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/thanks.gif http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/goodjob.gif
  7. Hi, anyone know of a program I can use to play cds backwards? I do a pop quiz and thought it would be fun to have a go http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/533.gif
  8. I remember doing this gig once, back when frontages were all the rage, and this guy came wading up to me knocked over my frontage onto my decks and said "hey up mate will you tell everybody the bars closed!!!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrr http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/wallbash.gif
  9. Have a nice time http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/042.gif

    BAYWATCH

I've been asked for the baywatch theme quite a bit recently, I was clubbing a few weeks ago and the DJ played it in his party spot, so I don't know if its it doing the rounds or what http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/533.gif
  11. Thanx for your support, I know I'm not the first and I certainly won't be the last. Its just a case of getting my head round it all. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/thanks.gif
  12. Had the most disasterous weekend ever!! my friend has a residency at a venue which also has a permanant fixed marquee, the whole complex is 15 miles from where I live. So I went over at dinner to set up for the night do, on my return I recieved a phone call asking when was I coming to set up for the afternoon and night disco I had agreed to provide on the same day!! Oh don't worry someone will be there soon I said. I did'nt know what to do, how had I overlooked this booking, it turned out I'd stapled it to the wrong date in my diary. So I had to ring round everybody I knew to try and get a dj
  13. It all makes great reading for those like us who are trying to pick up the skills, but my main problem is counting the beats. I tried it the other week and was fine until someone asked for a request!!!!! DAMN how many was that???? http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/wallbash.gif It's a great thread though.
  14. I'm a part time DJ as well, which means I don't have to work if I don't want to. My mate is a full time Jock and he is always moaning at me when I turn jobs down because I think they might be a bit stiff!!! I've always worked like this because I don't feel I could put 100% into every gig I did, if I was out too much. I admire people who are full time, the DJ at the nightclub where I work is out 6 nights a work but he does admit that 95% of the time he goes into autopilot. Mind you at £800 per week I think I would be the same!!!! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/cool.gif
  15. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/042.gif I got one. Its a 1900Turbo Transporter. I've had a few problems with it but I think that was mainly because it had been used and abused. I've had a new clutch fitted not so long back and various other bits and bobs but as reliability goes its been great.
