  1. It is very difficult to get onto lists, and it does take time and dedication. It is however well worth being involved in the upfront scene if that is what you desire. The best way to start is pretty obvious really... Contact your favourite record labels... only two or three mind....Speak to their promotions or A&R people, and find out who they use to do their own promotions. Some do it themselves, and some use the Promo companies mentioned in this chain. GET A NAME.... very important that you know NAMES... If you want to get anywhere, or do anything you must know THEIR NAMES.
  2. Yes Brian, I have it too. It will probably sell bucketloads before Christmas, for its' cheeky take on the classic song. For the guys interested, you need to contact a record company directly to find out how they promote their music. Go to the label that most inspires you first. They may give you short shrift, but they may give you a few pointers. I have contacts from many years experience, and I also write the reviews pages for Pro Mobile magazine. If you can't get promos yet, you really need to check the charts and reviews pages of my website every week. Lots of guys already do tha
  3. Hey guys, http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/ranting.gif Cool down a bit. For a law to be passed in this country, it needs proposal by the house of commons, and ratification by the house of lords. Do you see anything on the statute books, or in proposal to do that? No, nor do I. Why are we even giving page spread to these rogues who would say 'stand and deliver', and have you all bowing and scraping to pay their protection racket money? This needs discussion (if at all) by higher powers, and if you think about it hard.... Licence is granted to IPOD owners for personal use...
  4. Hi Brian, What are they like compared to my JBL's?
  5. Brian, I can think of nothing worse than the perfect wedding with the brats from hell !!!
  6. I have played the Connaught Rooms, and I found that access is through the front doors, where all the guests come in, and the street outside is one seriously stressful experience. Parking if you are lucky will entail quite a walk back to the venue, and to top it off, there are always several DJ's working on several floors, and all use the one lift which doesn't hold all your kit. It is a fairly large logistics nightmare, so ensure that you have a good team of roadies. You will need at least two. and don't expect to be able to get wrapped and out very early. You may benefit from booking a hotel
  7. Good Evening Brian... I can also vouch for JB's at Tunbridge Wells as a dynamic supplier who will ensure customer satisfaction. I believe that they will be possibly be displaying some of their wares at the next SEDA meeting at The Grangemoor Hotel in Maidstone. The next meeting occurs on May 15th (Sunday) at about 7.30pm.
  8. Hi Guys, I'm back at last. Neil Brown for those that don't recognise the Shortvehicle tag. These guys sound like they either need a curry, or have just had one Brian. Anyway, back to the plot.... SEDA is for the South East of England DJ's, but one of our members is frequently in the West country, so if we can get more info, we may be able to assist the earlier respondent to set something up for his area. I am still trying to get my diary to co-incide with that of Mike Moore, in order to talk about plenty that affects both our associations, and to forge closer ties. Constitutions
