  1. "Mr Site Builder" is what I use. Its easy to use for the beginner and has enough additional features available for the more advanced web designers to utilise. Link to it available on my site. Good Luck
  2. I don't charge more for Bank hols, particularly where it is a regular. A gig that is a one-off - the £50 charge that people have suggested is a thought to consider (supply & demand). I would charge more around christmas though. Again though, the charge wouldnt reflect what i may charge for a gig that is not regular. Its a simple case of honouring a customers loyalty and showing appreciation by offering a more favourable rate.
  3. We were at a lovely country pub in Lamberhurst Sunday Night. ( A 40min drive for us) 1st gig there for a couple we knew that ran The Kings Head in Rochester. It was a karaoke night in its purest form. We announced that we were to sing a song or two to 'set up' and once were were done with that we had people wanting to sing immediately when we had infact envisaged having to play some background music for the first 20 mins atleast. So we started at about 7.40pm rather than the agreed 8 (I like to be early incase of problems when at a potential regular venue for the first time) and didn't stop un

    Name That Song

I've been trying to see if i have this song in my music library.... but it'd be helpful if I knew what it was called! lol... it goes something like... hilly-billy rock, hilly-billy roll da da daadaa and away we go any ideas? its probably obvious but you know what its like when you're trying to think of a particular song

    Background Music

background prelude music... depending on crowd a bit of Enya sounds good, and I've never used it yet but I've thought about pan pipes. (dependin on crowd) clearly some places will not suit either of these suggestions in the slightest.
  6. maxine nightingale - Right Back to where we started from George Michael & Aretha Franklin - I knew you were waiting :hide:
  7. Tina Turner - The best.... think I'd agree with that one. & The Ketchup song, wotsit called 'mcdonalds mcdonalds, kentucky fried chicken & Pizza hut'? ... headache!
  8. ... boyfriend?? tongue out icon we're due to be married in 14 weeks! as for coming here for the right answers... Emma has come on here to find out how not to do things on a more serious note, Em should learn a thing or 2 on here and I think she will have lots of ideas to contribute. Take a bit of the weight off my shoulders
  9. About time too I've been asking you for 2 months now to sign onto here! :djuhi:
  10. OK... I have the DJU banner on my website now. Further to my previous question regarding my signature being long.... I do not believe the problem with creating the banner is related to my signature being too long. Since I have been able to incorporate a similar amount of text required in the signature as it is, whilst including the banner 'image' and a seperate link to my site. :ouch:
  11. I am familiar with writing html for banners. But when I try to insert a banner/link on my signature i am informed that my signature is too long. Can anyone please help? Also, I would like to insert the DJU banner onto my website, I am aware there is a section on here somewhere to advise me but have tried and failed to find it. Thank you
  12. Yes, but we are multi-talented! tongue out icon Your right, it was horrible trying to judge at the same time. But as I said, it wasn't a serious competition and everyone was over joyed with everything about the evening. Not an ideal situation to be judging as well, but when left with no choice... just gota get on with it.
  13. Well now... the competition worked out rather well in the end. Despite one or two significant set backs. I.E. One judge didnt turn up, and the other left without saying anything 1/2 an hour into it. I later found out he is afraid of crowded places... whoops! Anyway, it was lucky that I myself had been keeping scores for singers in case anything happened. I scored using some of the ideas provided, basing scores on vocal delivery, overall persona, and general interaction with the crowd. I scored every song that wasn't a duet. I scored according to the rules I had laid out... the
  14. Plenty of Experience running Karaoke Nights... zero experience running karaoke competitions. Any Help Please? I went along to a pub Sunday to assess the venue for a karaoke this Saturday and noticed the owner had advertised the evening as having a prize for the best singer. 'Great', I thought. This I queried with the owner and he said he always liked to give a bottle of champagne to the best singer. So I said; 'no worries, makes it more interesting et cetera et cetera. Who's Judging?' which followed with him responding - 'You are'. Okay, no problem, I suggested I'd like to do it as
  15. Hi Guys. I wish to provide info to any punters about the best way to sing into a microphone, and how not to sing into a microphone, along with some good reasons for each. (As a general rule) It is my belief that a mic should be a couple of inches from your mouth and almost parallel to your chin to achieve the best sound (Though dependent on the voice and song). The mic should be gripped using the 'handle' (not the top) Singing whilst holding the mic considerably further away invariably means the KJ having to turn the mic up and seriously risking feedback... so this is a no no.
