Music (obviously!), songwriting/composing/recording,Guitars/keyboards, Sci-fi movies,DIY - we are currently converting an ex Trawler into a cruising houseboat (slowly but surely) while living aboard. It's a brilliant way of life and I would recommend it to anyone!<br />Travel - whenever we get the chance, which is not often these days, different cultures, history,Astronomy.
  1. Many thanks for the replies guys - I'll stick with the mirrorball for now. Cheers, Greg.
  2. Hi guys - not been on for a while, hope you're all well! I'm looking to find an alternative to the big cumbersome Lytequest mirror ball that I currently use.Though this is a great room filler it is large and heavy.I'm trying to reduce the amount of gear I have and read somewhere that a Star cluster laser is a wicked effect light that can be used as an alternative to a mirror ball (in the right mode). I've read the glowing reports on the Kam Star cluster 3D laser and am thinking of buying one shortly anyway but can anyone please tell me if they have used this instead of the mirrorball for sl
  3. Hi One and all! Hope you're all well and getting plenty of gigs!! Sorry I haven't been on for a while - Houseboat conversion taking up a lot of time.......and effort......not too much money though.......much grief from other half.......bilge water.......walking the plank.......keep taking the tablets...... Any road up - I've got my first corporate Christmas party coming up soon and I'm a bit unsure how to work out the running order for the night. I know that a lot will depend on the crowd but how much Christmassy stuff do you play and when? Do you hit them with it from the word
  4. I'm with you on this one - I've done freebies for charity on many occasions and more than once when we really needed the money BUT there are always those that are worse off than ourselves and I will help out whenever I can and wouldn't dream of charging a fee.So what if the venue gets paid, the staff get paid etc etc? By not charging a fee you are helping to offset their payment and thus the charity in question receives more money - what's the problem? Ok,you don't get paid but a good cause is benefiting from your generosity and you are getting free publicity & may get other paid gigs
  5. Errr.....No!! I am to dancing what 'Vicki Pollard' is to style and sophistication........ :joe: The ONLY time I should get up and dance is at kicking out time - guaranteed to empty the place!
  6. Went down to the DJ North show on sunday - went there with a view to possibly buying some LED lights specifically an Impossiled or Revo III but came away with more questions than answers really. It was quite difficult to see a good demo of any lights as there was that much going on but overall, after seeing many lights in action I was pretty disappointed in the LED's performance wise, despite their obvious plus points. OK, there was some ambient light and it was probably not the ideal place for a proper demo but I couldn't help feeling that there was definately something lacking after all t
  7. At the risk of offending any smokers out there,I vehemently believe that ANY venue that defies the smoking ban should be closed down immediately.Kick the offending Landlord/lady out and replace said idiot with someone who understands the rules. There seems to be too much prattle about lost profits and people's right to smoke - what about people's health? Isn't that the real aim of the ban, to improve the quality of the air that we breath in pubs / resteraunts etc etc? To be able to go out and have an enjoyable meal or drink without breathing in a toxic cloud or coming out smelling like an
