MintyDave 0
Having spent a small fortune on 250w halogen lamps in the last few months i have decided to invest in a pair of LED effect lights to use as my workhorse units. By this i mean they will do all the small venue/kids parties and be an addition to my datamoons at bigger functions i want something relativley cheap and chearful, dmx, hand controller if poss, nice and bright with good coverage. However i dont want the chassis size of the acme impossiled/marveled/matrix/ american dj revo. Also having seen the acme led goboflower in the flesh i was unimpressed considering the £300 price tag for a pair, which probably leaves me with the rgb dots. they will probably be used with either a pair of 250w halogen dynamo scanners or a pair of acme invincibleds (which do very small rgb dots over a vast area) ideally i would like a pair of units to fit on my rig as i dont have the facility for 1 centrepiece unit without some engineering (t bars are not built for centre pieces) Discuss. Cheers Dave edit - have just looked at the american dj fusion. if they are as good as they look on the video then 2 fixtures will do at some of my functions Richmond Karaoke & Disco - Professional Mobile Disco Service For North Yorkshire - www.rkdisco.co.uk
Deejaytee 0
I dont know about the best but I bought a couple of ADJ revo sweep units. I thimk they were only about £70 each. Tiny lights, weigh nothing, about the size of a portable CD player, but I was very impressed by their coverage and brightness. They have built in sound to light, plus DMX. Not the most exciting effect but they cover a really wide area. Im thinking of getting the ADJ mystic as I quite like the patterns that makes ont he dance floor
orbitdisco 0
I am pleased with the effect from my Miracleds, they are wide but not nearly as tall compared with the Impossibled etc. They certainly work well as a pair linked together as master/slave, and the ubiquitous CA-8 controller works with them too. DJMickeyk 0
Did you have a look at the fusions Dave, they look decent even though they are quite expensive. Can you let us know what you think of them if you get to demo them. www.tipperarypartydj.com
Dukesy 0
Lots of interest in LED's lights on the forum at the moment as Dj's consider making the change. If you do decide to take the plunge don't forget the obligatory DJ porn, in the form of high resolution photos of the lights at a gig

jay jackson 0
Impossibleds seem to do the trick ok I have been using for a couple of years and no probs A lot of light with a couple of units along with a couple of lasers looks fine in large & small rooms
MintyDave 0
well i have seen allsorts in action today, all of which were the usual rbg dots. some looked absolutely fantastic in the smoke but rather dissapointing without. so i have made up my mind to stick with the datamoons until a 60w led gobo moonflower type effect hits the market. (Chauvet do a 60w moving head which is very very bright) I had a look at various led scanners too and they were very dissapointing. the brightest of the bunch was the adj vioscans but was back to dots, different colour dots but still dots. the lanta neptune wash 18's are still looking great too I did however pick up my first laser and will be doing a quick review with photos very soon, you will gobsmacked with this one!!! gadget 0
I see ADJ have a scanner coming out that's got a 50w White LED source in it... Has 7 rotating gobos + open, 7 colours + white, 3-way prism, infinite prism, 12 or 14 dmx channels as well... Have a guess at the price?! MintyDave 0
Whats bugs me is that you can pick up a very bright led moving head for sensible money but they are too big and well OTT for what we need Now this thing is amazing but needs to be 20' up in the air http://www.djanddiscostuff.com/prodmed/3423.jpg I think its 60w and the gobos are amazing. £600 So why cant we have a chuffin gobo/moonflower type thing?...... because the market for all the led dotty disco lights will plummet. ADJ LED scanner £16,859,372,658,670,879.99? OK maybe £999.99. I hope it makes good tea.
