  1. Came into a bit of money so bought one this morning and it is number 189. They're selling but only slowly. A
  2. Hi I used to have that mixer and I also use Mackie SRM450s. I upgraded to a better quality mixer (a Rane MP2) and the sound improvement was impressive. Eventually I upgraded to a Rane TTM57SL which I use with Serato. I reckon a Denon would give a pretty good improvement in sound quality. Plus they start at around £199 for the 2 Channel compact model so look like a good buy. A
  3. My Son is 18 and he didn't show any interest until last weekend when he asked me what a DJ could earn in a night. All of a sudden he is offering to help me and learn the ropes. He's got a good knowledge of music and I can see him doing it one day, but who knows.
  4. I went out last week with 2 impossibleds and 4 led par 64s. I had dmxed the par 64s using one of these. http://www.djstore.com/item/lighting_control/procont06.htm I found it very easy to set up some good gradual colour wash changes and also some quite effective strobe type effects. I run the impossibleds as master and slave on sound to light and they look very good on the ceiling or on the dance floor. A bit retro, but so am I ;-) A bit of haze really helps with them. It looked good, and had a lot of good comments but i'm not sure it is enough for larger venues. The Par64s aren't
  5. You really should read posts carefully before you get all worked up. It's not good for you at your age. ;-) Anyway, my last paragraph said We know that we don't live in an ideal world - I thought I did but the prescription ran out. We don't know if the MCPS will be active in checking on venues. They might not but knowing my luck I'll be working the venue that does get checked. We're not sure if it will have any teeth - but if they have I'll be the one who gets bitten. We don't know if they will frighten the venue management But I'll be the one with a sca
  6. Hi, Sorry I didn't post more info on this. I just sent an email to MCPS and they sent me a reply back that said that the licence will provide permission to individuals who wish to dub (copy) music that they privately own onto formats for the specific purpose of using these copies in their professional working capacity. The licence will be available via a fully automated ecommerce facility with licences being issued on a yearly basis and the cost dependant on the licensee’s annual copying activity. The base licence will enable the licensee to copy between 1-5000 tracks per year and
  7. Hi I had a very helpful email today from a guy at the MCPS. He gave me this weblink http://www.mcps-prs-alliance.co.uk/MUSICFO...DubLicence.aspx The licence is potentially available 1st July. Basic level probably around £250 to cover dubbing of 1 - 5000 tracks a year. Could this be a good thing or a bad thing? Good thng if the MCPS have some teeth and make venues get rid of the cowboys with cheap laptop and downloaded music. Can't see that happening though.
  8. That sounds like the sort of thing that I could sign up to. Then we could go to venues and sell ourselves as licensed DJs and work together to drive out the cowboys. Of course there would always be cowboys in crap venues, but they're welcome to them. A
