aaadisco 0
Hi Guys, Just thought I would introduce my new business venture. As 90% of my time is now spent on Wedding Discos, I thought I would look for something to complement the service. I've gone in to partnership with another DJ and bought a limo bus :-) It is a custom made, converted 16 seater mini bus with a pumping sound system, LCD TV's, a Dance pole, Karaoke onboard and loads of LED lighting. Basically a night out on wheels :-) We are hoping to sell it to stags and hen dos as well as corporate events, kids parties etc.. We were given a website with the bus but the pictures do not do it justice, take a look at http://www.firebreatherlimo.com or facebook group - Firebreather Limo There is a hell of a lot of red tape in getting licensed to operate the limo but we are getting there and should be taking bookings shortly. If anyone would like to offer the limo as another service to their clients, then please PM me as I am happy to offer a referral fee. Would be interested to hear your thoughts or feedback on the venture. Thanks Jose Edited October 15, 2009 by aaadisco Jose Saavedra MJS EVENTS Wedding Disco Specialists Mobile: 07734 387 478 Email: mail@mjsevents.com Web: http://www.mjsevents.com PLI (£10m) & PAT Tested equipment Member of the following associations: Federation of Small Busineses & The Wedding DJ Association

Jimmy S 0
I did the same with a fire engine a couple of years ago..........went well but Full of red tape. I eventually sold it making a small profit and as far as i know still driving about Scotland somewhere. I also know someone who bought a routemaster london bus, kitted it out with a big sound system, dancefloor lights etc and made a fortune in the midlands. best of luck in your new venture big chap!!!!! aaadisco 0
Thank you for all the support guys. We did a promo night yesterday with friends and family which went well. We drove to various bars and pubs giving out flyers and got some great feedback. Have a few enquiries on the go, hopefully first booking will be on the way soon :-) Jose Saavedra MJS EVENTS Wedding Disco Specialists Mobile: 07734 387 478 Email: mail@mjsevents.com Web: http://www.mjsevents.com PLI (£10m) & PAT Tested equipment Member of the following associations: Federation of Small Busineses & The Wedding DJ Association
Dukesy 0
There is a hell of a lot of red tape in getting licensed to operate the limo but we are getting there and should be taking bookings shortly. So what are these red tape hurdles? Are they placed on the vehicle, the driver, or the nature of the service and potential sound pollution problems?
centrestagediscos 0
do you require a psv licence to drive it?, i thought if it was over 8 passengers then you cant drive it on a car licence but i could be wrong. 07843106107 mobile 01752-296680 office
aaadisco 0
As I understand it, you can drive a 16 seater with a normal driving license as long as it is one with class D1 usage on it. A bit like the older ones allow you do drive a small motorbike. This means we can drive it around doing promo work as nobody is paying a fare. The minute you start charging passengers, then you need a PSV driving license. My business partner is going through this at the moment, it costs £1000 to get it! We also need a PSV Operator Operators license which we have applied for. This took a couple of weeks to gather all the information and to get contracts in place with a garage and a place to store the vehicle. Insurance was also a nightmare as we are starting a new venure, most companies didn't want to touch us and the one that did charged £1500. It has been a steep learning curve but we have been lucky because the guy we bought the bus from gave us a lot of advice and help in starting up. Raymilkybarkid 0
Don't forget that you will also need Safety inspections every 6 weeks when paying passengers are involved this will be part of the PSV Operators licence criteria along with a planned maintenance programme and don't forget you may also need a tachograph fitted. Then you will have the added hassle of drivers hours. I Hold A CPC for Goods vehicles and a PCV CPC is similar PM Me if you want more info. DJTREV 0
I think it's a brilliant idea and sincerely hope it works for you. Do you envisage any problems with regard to vandalism, police attention or noise problems. Do you supply the driver and doorman on this mobile disco/pub? This is not a rehearsal This is it - grab it while you can.
