Gary 0
Way! 1981 was a year of no less than 19 number ones. Two tunes topped the tariff for a whole 5 weeks, these being Adam and the Ants: "Stand and Deliver", and Human Leagues: "Dont you want me Baby?" However 5 tunes held onto the top spot for 4 weeks. John Lennons "Imagine", Adam and the Ants again with "Prince Charming", Dave Stewart and Barbara Gascoine "Its my Party (and I'll cry if I want to). Shakin Stevens managed 4 weeks EACH with his covers of : "This ole house", and "Green Door" A nicely rounded 3 artists managed 3 weeks at No.1, including the politely rude Joe Dolce with "Shuddup your face", Buck Fizz "Making your mind up", and The Specials "Ghost Town". A fortnight at the top was acheived by several artists including again John Lennon, this time with "Woman", Roxy Musics "Jealous Guy", Smokey Robinsons "Being with you", Michael Jacksons "One day in your life", Soft cells "Tainted Love", and Queen with David Bowie "Under Pressure". finishing up, 3 tunes only held onto the top spot for a meagre week (and two deserved no more), The Police "Every little thing she does is magic", Aneka "Japanese Boy", and Julio double-glazy-ass: "Begin the Beguine". But which 1981 No.1 goes down best on your dancefloor? http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/533.gif http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif Its votin' time again!
