As I've said elsewhere, I'm considering adding in a "Wedding Singer" function to my services. I quite fancy picking up the guitar and getting out on stage again.

What I'm after from all your brains out there are some suggestions for suitable songs to perform for weddings.

I want to try to avoid the ones that I would probably play as part of the disco, you know, songs like Love is in the air, First Last, Can't take my eyes off you etc.

When I used to do the club circuit, I always opened with Hermans Hermits - There's a Kind Of Hush, and I seem to remember, I used to do quite a few Cliff songs, but I don't think Bachelor Boy would go down too well at a wedding. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/wacko.gif

So all sensible suggestions welcome please.

I think as a singer, you can get away with a much wider selection of tunes.

I would choose songs that they can sing a long with, but as you rightly say, not disco stuff. Good ol' fashion pop!

I would enjoy this too....!! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif

Paul, go rent a copy of The Wedding Singer, starring Adam Sandler. Not only is it a great film, it has some great music too.

Well so far I've gone for

Opening with Lionel Richie's Dancing on the ceiling.

Then first spot

Hermans Hermits - There's a kind of hush

Madness - It must be love

CCR - Proud Mary

Eagles - Peaceful Easy Feeling

Lionel Richie - Stuck On You

Carole King - It Might As Well Rain Until September

Leo Sayer - When I Need You

Showaddywaddy - Three Steps to Heaven

and if I can find the rest of the verses, I might finish off with the Jasper Carrot song mentioned elsewhere.

Second spot

Chris Rea - Let's Dance

Elvis - Stuck on YOu

Showaddywaddy - Under the moon of love

Dire Straits - Walk of life

ELO - Hold on tight.

Just thought of another possible, Elvis - Blue Suade Shoes, might run straight into that from ELO http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/rolleyes.gif

.......Still need some more up-tempo ones yet for a second spot.

For non-weddings, 2 others are:

Jigsaw - Sky High

Sting - Every Breath You Take

The hardest part now is going to be learning the words and guitar parts off by heart. It's funny, but I never seemed to have any trouble with that 30 years ago. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/wacko.gif

So, what do you think, good choices??, any more suggestions for up-tempo ones.
