wahee 0
hi guys - many thanks for the kind words of welcome and advice. I wanted to get some reasonably decent speakers to start as I hope not to have to upgrade for some time. I have a spare quad404 hifi amp to use incase of a primary amp failure This may sound like a daft question but as I will be mostly doing weddings, I was hoping to use a spare table at venues as I have tripods to mount my lights at the moment and no portable table yet. Do most wedding venues allow you to use one of their tables? cheers:) DISCO INFERNO NI
Paul Smith 0
QUOTE Do most wedding venues allow you to use one of their tables? Most do and you can use one of their table cloths or take your own cover. I only used to ask for one with my smaller rig when I wasn't using the 'Ultimax' stand however on one occasion all the function rooms at the hotel were in use and the best they could come up with was a ricketty pasting table. I also used to find that the venue tables were slightly too low. Solution for under £20. For my small set up I now use a double brace keyboard stand with the lid of one of my transit boxes. This means that my mixer is always at the same height and it's solid. I cover the front with a star cloth which clips onto the lid and it's all up in under 2 minutes. Compare this to the time taken to find a member of staff then for them to bring you a table (& then go off again to get a tablecloth) and it's £20 well spent IMHO. brianmole 0
I find most venues give you one table (say for records/cds). I would invest in a deckstand. £50 should get you something decent which folds flat. You should speak to the owner of this site Chris who happens to run a disco emporium http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif
bluejools 0
http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/042.gif Hello and welcome. Would echo what has been said. Venues will give you tables that are not fit to eat off... ... the ones that wobble all night. Since you dont say whether you are cd/vinyl/pc..... just make sure you have anti-skip!! I started without this because it was cheaper http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/wallbash.gif BIG MISTAKE! After spending nights sitting on you CD Decks to stop vibration you will understand.... You're doing well, get good music sources!! Have fun! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/tongue.gif

wahee 0
thanks again guys - PaulS thats a really good idea for a cheap support stand. I want to get the setup up and running so I have plenty of time to ahem - worry about the evening http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif I ahve a 70's style formica fold down table which is actually quite sturdy - so I will give it a try too. Space is my big concern as I dont have a van - just two cars (dragged the wife into it all) so smaller rig the better. For music I am going to use a pair of dell laptops which I have - That means if one dies I should hopefulyy have the other with the same tunes on ready to kick in. PLus I have a small portable mp3 player with lots of tunes on for emergencies - plus some cd backup too. I got an old scrolling LED message display - but I havnt got the controller for it http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/sad.gif so im gonna try and build domething from the web to display messages for the punters. Like please please dance! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif DISCO INFERNO NI
