  3. Subs Subs Subs...... they're either very good or *^%*, phasing can sometimes be problem, not just due to the design but merley because of the driver used in the bin, Im thinking of building a dual or sinlge 18" bandpass type with dedicated amp in bridge mode which will be the same make/model as the main amp that powers my speakers
  4. QUOTE (stoke53 @ Nov 21 2005, 03:42 PM) Pat test courses usually run at most colleges i did mine at our local college (burslem campus) and best of all i got it sponsored too. alan How much did the college charge for the course, fees so far with a private independant company is roughly £220~260
  5. Personal number plates are.. period scams in the first place (DVLA), I couldnt care less what I have on my cars/vans/bikes/tractors/747s, its a metal thing that takes you from A to B and thats about all they are good for, whilst Im a big fuel munching polluting idiot here again I couldnt careless what others have to say about it, you have to ask yourself this, is there anything in the whole wide world you can do to make a big difference until the HYdrogen cell is produced in vast numbers, I aint bothered
  6. Use brake fluid ,gives better results.... no just kidding though it actually would but the fumes are very bad, what is smoke fluid made from, must be some form of glycol base of sorts, I wonder if its worth the DIY route
  7. QUOTE (Jeffwall @ Nov 20 2005, 02:04 AM) 1). The bride came over after seeing this go on, she apologised to me and said they were from yorkshire and she didnt really know them 2). She was made up and said the night was brilliant 3). But how much abuse have you took over the years? 8. oh, so Im not alone on this planet thinking the same, I drive a big lorry now and then and what really gets me is people will sit in the left lane doing say 54,5 mph, we have governors fitted and al lthe HGVs can do is 55, so you indicate, car in middle lane lets you move over, you're about to indicate to move back into the left lane, wha tdoes the little &%$£ do, he accelerates past you on the inside, even worse still, cars or lorries sitting in the middle lane doing 50 tops and you want to over take a lorry on your left and them, you cant move to the right because lorries arnt allowed...
  9. This happens when you flash your e-mail all over the place, its more likely to be some clever kid who has got himself a premium rate phone number and just sends the same message to everyone, BT by the way now checks these numbers daily to prevent fraud as they are now accountable for any phone fraud
  10. QUOTE (Chris_Pointon @ Nov 19 2005, 01:23 AM) Buy sod all for anybody! I only buy for my mum, my niece and nephew, and if I have a GF at the time if she has done what I wanted in the past year, the rest can get lost.
  11. QUOTE (JonWhittaker @ Nov 19 2005, 04:41 PM) Correct Its like when any of us do work for an agency. The agency does not have to take out any insurance/licenses etc as they dont "employ" us, we are self employed and they are in essence a client of ours. Employment law now covers agencies too but if you are self employed and do contract work it falls out of this, ie: Builders, DJing etc, as long as it doesnt continue for more than 6 months straight then there is no problems, this came in because bad employers were getting away without paying holiday pay to construction workers and so on i
  12. Yipe, just for kicks Im going to do the course next year, along with my carpentary course I'll well be on my way to becomming multi skilled, that does sound a bit much, certified in 3 so far, that will make 5 by June next year... http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/hiding.gif
  13. I think we'll also find the voltage here in the UK to be spot on 240 volts, ok so were talking 24 vlt lamps but I do know with certain products that say they are multi voltage but they still tend to blow a fuse now and then, Im not 100% sure but I think the UK is now the only country running 240 volts where as everywhere else is 220 volts, just a thought cos I've never seen light bulbs blow as often as they do here in the UK and Im talking home light fittings...
  14. QUOTE (jackwabbit @ Nov 19 2005, 09:27 PM) So “IF” Sony are going to put their prices up to Internet stores, what are they going to do with the likes of Curies & Comet? http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/533.gif Because these places & many more have high street stores & web sites with different prices. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/wacko.gif I have just recently got a Sony handycam from Curies, on their web site it was £229.99 where as the advised in store it was £239.19, but when I went into my local store to get one the price was £275. http://www.dj-forum.
  15. As long as it doesnt snow like it did last time and caught us all out it can go -50 for all I care, Im collecting some pallets from next week just in case... http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif
  16. QUOTE (Andy Westcott @ Nov 19 2005, 12:41 PM) I'd like to think if there was an accident, there would be no claim by them, but if it came to the crunch, people are known to be very greedy, often putting money above friendship and trust, so I feel I can no longer take the risk. There is still a grey area in the employment law, I was under the impression it was five or more employees you had to have insurance, also remember that the greedy insurance culture is slowly being stopped in its tracks by people who have abused the system, if a person is injured its not just simply a matter of see
  17. QUOTE (transeurope @ Nov 18 2005, 11:38 PM) 1). They buy cheaper, add the same 25-50% margin that UK dealers do, but because they have done their job properly in purchasing, the goods are sold to the retailers for a cheaper price. 2). Germany has a rule for every occasion. Everything is thought out. Everything has a relevant regulation. There is no way on earth that any sane individual could say that the UK has more rules than Germany. 3). Prices for goods are approximately the same in Germany and the US. 4). I would like a retailer to explain how regulations have such a dramatic
  18. If anyones interested in doing a course here is one for your interest.. 1 DAY PAT testing course
  19. You can buy UK made Peavey speakers in Germany for about £100~£300 cheaper than the UK, if you buy them there and bring them in these isnt a problem with duties
  20. QUOTE (Party-On @ Nov 18 2005, 04:19 PM) If you get 8ohm speakers you can add another pair if ever needed and your amp will drive both pairs at 4ohms, if you get 4ohm speakers you won't have this option. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Depends on the amp though, with this type of connection you can double the output on the amp but then it depends on the total wattage of the combined speakers, ie: 2500 watt amp pushing 4000 watt speakers is going to sound......
  21. QUOTE (DiscoStudio @ Nov 17 2005, 10:53 AM) We decided to have a catalogue printed as we simply don't believe in "internet only" retailers, as they have no real investment in their businesses and could simply close at any minute leaving their customers with no waranty etc. Just like any other buss. they close up shop, does it really make any difference when it comes to the viabilty of a bricks and mortar shop, I dont think so and to date I have no regrets in buying online with my crdit card that foffers me protection and extended warrantees on anything over £100, I bought and paid for in
  22. I decided to do some research, seems like these are really effective and very powerful for what they are, interesting
  23. QUOTE (Djsteved @ Nov 16 2005, 06:49 PM) Im worried about the Truss not holding them its a pro light truss? Tell me about it, hence why I just forked out £250 for a good pair of wind up stands
  24. 2500 watts of power in total seems to be more than enough with even room for more if needed in open spaces, I use a pair of speakers fitted dual 15" drivers, I would even go so far as to say 1500watts is more than ample, remember buy right and you wont need to upgrade later wasting money, use the net and you'll find lots of good bargains but try and wait till next year when prices fall after all have gone home to rest their weiry heads from all the banging sounds, a good starting amp would be the Behringer EP1500 now selling for £164, you can use this amp at a later stage to power possibly a s
