brianmole 0
Saturday's gig was in a newly refurbished room, the carpet had been laid a few hours before the party! On top of this was a dancefloor - here is the pic: http://www.dancemix.co.uk/images/6379.jpg After about an hour of people on the dancefloor doing their thang, I was aware that my Starcloth booth was getting closer to me as the dancefloor had moved http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/fear.gif . We stopped, moved it a foot away, an hour later the same thing happened. How do you get round this?

ChrisPointon 0
The carpet is new, therefore the surface will still have the chemicle treatment which it had in manufacture close to the surface pile making it smooth and glossy. Once the carpet pile 'beds in' and its had dust, dirt and beer spilled on it, plus a few thousand pairs of feet over it, then it'll improve. Failing, that buy a lorry load of velcro, and spend a few days putting it around the edge of the underside of each section of the dancefloor.

spinner 0
Not much you can do in those circumstances, but some of those rubber door wedges placed strategically at one end of the floor might help. Otherwise get as far back from the dancefloor as you can.
FDDJ 0
Had the same problem at a Wedding earlier this year, function room had a new carpet and as soon as people started dancing the dance floor tiles started to pull apart in different directions. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/wallbash.gif Eventually they took the whole dancefloor back up and they carried on dancing on the carpet... http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/sad.gif "It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change." - Charles Darwin <a href="http://www.djassociates.org"><img src="http://www.djassociates.org/anims/compres_banner.gif" alt="Join the DJ Associates Disc Jockey Association" border="0" width="468" height="60"></a>
Paul Smith 0
It happened to me once but luckily the dancefloor moved away from the disco http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/smile.gif You could try this if you're gonna be in there again soon. Take a couple of flat pieces of timber 6' long (sloped like a door saddle) and place them at each side of your rig so that one end is up against the wall and the other is under the dancefloor edging 'ramp' that is covered by your star cloth. I've never tried it but it works in my head http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/wacko.gif http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/kewlpics.gif
YourBigEvent 0
Get Kingy to do the disco, nobody would then dance and the floor would stay in the same place. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/tongue.gif .....but what do I know ? Andy Westcott 0
Next time you visit the place, screw in a few screws, long enough to protrude 1/2 inch or so under the dance floor into the carpet. Shouldn't move so much then....... http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/rolleyes.gif

music box 0
Put gaff tape on the carpet then patch some gaff tape on the top so the sticky side is upmost then put the floor on top of that will give it some grip and at the end of the night gaff tape comes up ok without any damage to carpet. short skirt high heels 0
An ex SEDA chairman carries around a couple of bits of 4" x 2" which he uses to brace the dancefloor off the skirting behind him!!!
