bluejools 0
wedding for me in Bishops Stortford. Is a friend of a family member so a cheapie - but a long old day (3-1) The couple are great fun - and the playlist is mostly my own. Still - its for a good age group of people so you always hope something will come out of the back of it.

vokf 0
I've just got a call from a guy I've not seen for a while. His sisters 43rd tomorrow, "how much". Family party, and no problems with bringing the kids. Decent sized house and no idiots/trouble (I've been to a few previous parties as a guest) I was offering "mates rates", but still too expensive - but he may be able to raise it.... I'll wait and see, I won't do it for less, so still may be staying in..

deejaymitch 0
Got my residency tomorrow tonight (Saturday) and was working in the same bar tonight covering for the Friday resident who is on holiday. I hate the place, I plan to leave soon and it's soul destroying being in there twice a week. On the bright side though, I just had a spicy chicken pizza and onion rings. Will get a kebab tomorrow!!! gadget 0
I've just come back from a 6 hour 18th Birthday party. (7pm-1am). It was an awesome night. Mostly 70s & 80s, and about half an hour of current chart stuff for some of the youngun's I ended up buying a pair of Peavey Pro 15 mk2s (the new black grill ones), and they sound waaaay better than the Audio Intimidation INT112's which I have been using in the past. They only cost 250 the pair too, and I'm over the moon with them, even if they are a bit on the bulky/heavy side.. they still fit in the car with all the other stuff! I played background music (plus a bit of HSM for a couple of younger children there) until the hot buffet at about 8pm. More background music while the buffet on, (the key announcement track was Bryan Adams - Everything I do). At 9pm, cranked it up a bit. people got up and danced pretty much straight away).. There was one table of people which never ever got up at all (apart from to go to the Bar). Yet they were singing/tapping along to the music.. Had lots of praise, which is always good! However my ankles & knees are hurting after being on my feet for so long. Best investment this week (apart from the speakers) was some velcro cable ties, just helped made things look waay neater on the t-bars. Will post pics up later if anyone's vaguely interested :) Tomorrow night I have a Silver Wedding Anniversary, which was a last minute booking last week, and is 70s->present.. Luckily its only 4.5hrs! Right better unload the car I guess... Got my residency tomorrow tonight (Saturday) and was working in the same bar tonight covering for the Friday resident who is on holiday. I would have loved a kebab but I didnt go past any take-aways as it was in the middle of nowhere and straight onto the motorway home. I did come away with a whole celebration cake bar (tesco one), so might have a slice or two of that I think (anda a cuppa tea!) I'll wait and see, I won't do it for less, so still may be staying in.. Its amazing but people dont realise the effort to do a gig irrespective of the what when where how etc Why should you go early to set up, work all night, not get drunk, knock down and drive home to unload when you get there for nothing. Not like its a quick plumbing job etc which may take an hour. Friday - end of year primary school disco & Our end of year staff party/leaving party which brings me back to the above. OK i volunteered to do the staff party but since i had the school disco too i ran round like a loon from 4 pm and got into bed at 1.30am - no tea no beer and i broke my glasses so a headache was included. Had it not been for Andy it would of been impossible. Saturday - Nothing, which gives a rare opportunity to go to the pub and down a few lemonades with the boys - subject to Mrs MD letting me out to play - And there is a 'Levellers Tribute Band' Playing All for £60 - Its above minimum wage i suppose Richmond Karaoke & Disco - Professional Mobile Disco Service For North Yorkshire - www.rkdisco.co.uk

Or is it one of those phone calls to a party where the invite only stands and applies if they can get your disco at a huge discount? Or is it one of those phone calls to a party where the invite only stands and applies if they can get your disco at a huge discount? Now its funny you mention that. Im off to a weddng in west sussex in september (consider i live in north yorkshire) as a guest and dj. My fuel, lodgings for the weekend for me and mrs md and pork pies will be covered which i estimate at certainly less than £300 (depending on the amount of pies) so its a bargain and it will be a more personailsed service. We will also be rattling out a few tunes on the old guitars. Na, got my children here, so can't go mad and crash over, and would only go as a guest (this was offered) without any gear. I've heard nothing so far, so expect to be on the sofa watching a DVD with the kids- personally not a bad alternative as I've not seen them for a few weekends.
gadget 0
I've been back for about an hour or so from a Surprise 25th Wedding Anniversary Party. Typical that no one really danced until a few minutes before the end with New York New York... Went over by about 10 minutes, when the last of people were dancing finally... Was thanked by a few people for the music selection and keeping some of the kids entertained with glowsticks - which no one was expecting...! (Hats off to whoever suggested something to give out). Left quite a few business cards with the venue owners who were very impressed, who will hand them out to anyone looking. Only thing I could have known is that the parents were more into ther Neil Diamond.. I only had America (which was on the playlist request), if i'd known I would have done :damn: However the client was really happy that I'd made the effort to obtain a specific track (Thanks tony for helping with this!). Most bizarre request of the night was "You Could be Mine" by Guns & Roses. Was asked to crank it up too. Sounded really good on the Peavey Pro 15's.... I'm really chuffed with them... Not so happy that the 2nd Microphone Mute switch appears to be broken - so its next to useless now (bloddy KAM KWM11).... Although there wasn't much dancing, everyone was really happy, and was thanked and fed and watered throughout the night (which I don't expect). The buffet was... Pie & Mushy Peas, which wasn't as bad as it sounds! Hopefully post some pics of setup later! Nite all! Dream Catchers 0
How did the gigs go? As usual everything to do with weddings run late. We were let in at 5.30 and were set up and sound checked for just before 7. The room at the hotel has divider walls, they used 2/3 of the room for the wedding breakfast, the remaining 1/3 was where we were. Anyhow they only emptied the guests out into the bar area at 6:30, but it took them until 8:15 to complete the change over. It was a VERY quiet start, here is a picture taken at about 9 o'clock. http://www.weddingdjbolton.co.uk/images/9oclock.jpg From 8:15 until about 9:15 people just kept wandering in from the bar looking at the slide show that I had running of pictures of the B&G growing up. There were also the rugrats that I entertained with Bob The Buider, Shaun The Sheep, Tweenies etc. Buffet was at 9:30 followed by a very short speech at 10:10, after that the first dances and a full floor until just turned 1. http://www.weddingdjbolton.co.uk/images/later.jpg James said his 21st gig was rocking, most of the night they wanted Wigan Pier stuff, which wasn't such a suprise due to location. I must admit I think that would have been a nightmare if I had done it LOL. Jim
