kazzachi 0
Thanks Darren!....... Just to make it clear.. I am not touting for ideas.... lets face it, if you have a USP then it is very unlikely that anyone else could pinch it off you... unless its not really a USP! I dont know if my USP is unique anymore... mine was that I offer a money back guarantee....... but I do know that a few other djs now offer this - so anyone out there willing to tell us about their USP - Im sure that you all tell your clients about it! WE LOVE KAREN, AND IT'S GREAT TO HAVE HER BACK !!!! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Gary 0
Surely - each of our USP's is ......... US! Any donkey can set up: 2 x speakers 1 x amp 1 x mixer 4 x black boxes 'angin' on a pole and play all the tracks hes heard at a few weddings he's been free for (more often than not), or playlisted verbatim from some other DJ's list. However.... The "unique" element that we embelish our shows with, is US! Whenever we pick up the mic and mention that guy with the transparent wig... or that young lady who just tipped her drink over her mate during the cha-cha slide, or that couple during the smootchies that needed the oxygen tank after 15 minutes of tonsil-hockey... Whenever we de-fuse the "almost-fight" with a quick, decisive comment over the mic, whenever we choose to occupy the children with a game or 3, before the wedding buffet... Whenever we venture out the "other" http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/fear.gif side of the lights with a radio mic, or on a meet'n'greet request collection instead of hiding behind the haze machine...whenever we dare to try something other than just playing the next tune... Dont worry...Redbull wearing off now... http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/1106.gif http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/sleep1.gif
kazzachi 0
...Thats true gazza..... I am the only one who can turn up to do a disco and it would be me doing it the way I do it... But..... Lets say, you have got to sell your USP to a potential customer... who hasnt heard of you from word of mouth recommendation..... and, for instance, has looked only at a handful of web sites, and has chosen four or five djs to contact... all websites are virtually the same in terms of the djs experience, equipment, prices etc....... WHAT if any is THE USP you use - if you have one? http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/wacko.gif WE LOVE KAREN, AND IT'S GREAT TO HAVE HER BACK !!!! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
C.S 0
I dont have one and i actualy dont want one because there is nothing worse than a fly boy over egoed dj telling potential customers why he is so much better than everybody else http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/thumbdown.gif . i think politeness, humble, unruffled, capable and helpful attitude should be enough to sell your wares what extras you actualy do at the gig should come as a nice suprise. Paul Forsyth 0
Kazz - apologies for taking things off topic http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/nono.gif I guess my usp is the work I put in pre event to gather the clilents requirements, so that I can provide a unique set built around their requirements with advice and guidance where needed or requested. FDDJ 0
QUOTE (Hugmaster @ Mar 10 2005, 07:43 AM)Shame such a good topic got taken totally off the rails. That's my USP, I can make a mess of anything! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/tongue.gif Hold on..... http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/huh.gif That's not right is it.... http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/wacko.gif In all seriousness, a good topic and I agree with what has already been said, I think the key is the individual. Mind you I would consider using DVD's and a projector at your disco as a USP. Not something I do yet but I am working towards it, so those that can offer the full Audio/Visual package have a USP over me. kazzachi 0
Yes!... Thats what I mean Vinnie! xx Chris, Im with you on that Im not out to tell any customer that I do anything better than anyone else... thats not what I mean by "unique"... every other website you see will tell you that so-and-so's disco is the "best" - and after all, thats not for us to tell anyone.... only our customers should be able to make such a bold statement!..... What I am trying (although not managing to get out of anyone) is IF they offer something in relation to their disco which is unique - ie., you wont be able to find any other disco/dj offering this service/trend or whatever. The question wasnt meant to be an excuse for any kind of one-upman-ship - it was only after a conversation that I had with a customer a while back asking what they would consider my "USP".... I honestly couldnt answer as I dont believe I have one anymore. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/533.gif WE LOVE KAREN, AND IT'S GREAT TO HAVE HER BACK !!!! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
cj_65 0
OK - here's another point of view - I work in an area where if people notice you then you've failed. By analogy - you could argue that people should hardly notice a good DJ? It usually only happens when things go wrong that you really remember them? EG equipment failure, rubbish music, badly considered jokes... Less can also be more in this business?
kazzachi 0
http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/offtopic.gif ........ Kingy 0
Interesting thread, I dont think I have anything Unique about the way I do things. I have seen many many Djs over the years, some good some, well, not so good. I think that my only USP round here ( not the forum) would be longevity of the business, I am in my 26th year. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/fear.gif I dont think I have seen a unique DJ, most of us mobile jocks end up playing a very similar set throughout the UK! YourBigEvent 0
TBH Anyone can press play on a CD player and say 'That was xxx, this is xxx' What makes a good DJ is then the question, the patter between the records (are they still called records ?) is one of the most important 'bits' a DJ does what makes me unique is the same as Kingy, I'm old, I mean experienced, http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/laugh.gif in most types of functions, from 4 people (!) to 400+ people, and my reputation is good. (Does that sound big-headed if so TUFF http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif ) So my USP is that I'm uniquely unique. .....but what do I know ?
