I have a gig coming up on a boat, and my racks will not fit in, so I am looking for a cheap amp for the night, I could take one of my amps out of the rack, but if I can get a cheap 400w (ish) amp I may be intrested in buying it for the gig.

.....but what do I know ?

Maybe a Cheap Pro-Sound amp, Dare or Audiohead amp. They are pretty cheap to pick up at the moment.

Or Alternatively Borrow one from a fellow DJ which would be cheaper!

They build them in UK for export as other brands. Speak to Simon he knows his stuff. I've got one of the 3000w versions and it's very nice for the money.

Where are you getting power from??? is there a generator? or an inverter? and is it gonna be powerfull enough to run your system?

If not, I would recomend using a 12v system... I still have one should you need http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif

or if you prefer, go and buy a car amplifier, and use that - its what i used to use when i did the Riverboats on the Thames in the summer...

The only UK number 1 record to contain in its lyrics the title of the song which knocked it off number 1 was... Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen (lyric: "Mamma Mia")!

I have seen today, brand new, a Soundlab 150x150 for £79 inc vat in a retail music shop.

Not the best, I agree. But, if thats the retail whats the trade price? I am willing to bet its about £45 + vat.

Just goes to show, when I started out I would have expected to pay about £1 per watt for an amp, therefore an amp like this would have been about £300.
