If you have not eaten a homemade Pastie in Cornwall then you havent eaten a real pastie.

You should try the ORIGINAL CORNISH PASTY.

 

 

Savoury one end and sweet the other...mmmmmm

 

 

To be honest I prefer off the shelf pasties with puff/flakey pastry as a opposed to the shortcrust pastry.

Love'em !

 

Good history behind the Cornish Pasty too.

 

It was a labourers meal. Given to miners and the like, as a whole lunch. Main/meat course one end, and the dessert, such as apple, jam or custard at the other end.

 

The dirty-handed worker would hold the entire pasty inverted, by its purposely designed supportive crust, which would not usually be eaten.

My fiancee parents have a little old lady who lives next door to them in Plymouth.
