dj.silver 0
I use this and the results are fantastic, a discernible difference. I've used this with Ots, Traktor and Mixmeister. http://www.platinumnotes.com/ http://planetsmilies.net/music-smiley-1306.gif I once read about the evils of heavy drinking ................ so I've stopped reading COPYWIGHT: Elmer Fudd 1956, All wights wesewved. NRG Roadshow 0
Yea Steve, I think 89 is the standard..... I really have no idea why I turned mine up a bit, just seemed like a good idea at the time LOL

Lev 0
As far as I know, MP3Gain is the only program that does this losslessly (i.e. you dont have to re-encode again to mp3). It modifies the tags / header of the actual mp3. 89 is the standard, it's to do with dynamic range and distortion, at 89db, you get the full dynamic range with no distortion (something like that, I'm near enough :)). However, 89db is remarkably quiet - as found if you run MP3Gain over a lot of modern tracks - most commercial things nowadays are mastered awfully loud just so they "Catch your attention on the radio". They often turn up 100db+, all clipped as you like! 92 is a sensible setting tbh, I defy anyone to really discover any distortion not in the original recording at that level. : Do the things that people say you cannot :
NRG Roadshow 0
Blimey.....so more by luck than judgement I seem to have found a good setting at 92. I like the look of that Platinum notes, bit expensive at $89 though. Is it fast, how long would it take to fix around 280 GB of music files.......are we talking minutes, hours or days? Corabar Steve 0
I tried 92, but too many tracks were coming out the other side clipping, so that's why I went to 90 Steve... I've got 40GB on a USB2 ext HD (also cloned on a 2nd USB2 ext HD).. It takes an age to crawl the directories- mainly due to the window refreshing each time the list is updating (common VB problem..) I turned off the usage of temp files, and it appeared faster. For your 280GB, I think you'll need to leave it overnight+more! Jason
