Kingy 0
Ok, we all use Dancing Queen, Oh What a night, etc etc, but how about the one track suitable to play in a general disco, soul, funk type set at an average function that you think several people will A) Dance to and B) think that most DJs have forgotten about. You get one track. Choose it and say why you have made that choice. Go: smile icon Edited January 8, 2009 by Robster

Robster 0
i can think of a few that meet the criteria of question A)but it would be a presumption on my part that i thought DJ's had forgotten about them for part B) of the question. a lot of guys probably use the tracks i have thought of . I like "The whisperers -And the Beat Goes On" most age groups recognise this track as it was sampled by Will Smith for going to Miami and for the game playing generation it was a track in grand theft auto vice city and was on the games soundtrack too. I have noted that older tracks featured on games often get a good reaction from both younger and the older audience members. Dukesy 0
Cor blimey Andy! Catch Up! All those posts have s l o w e d you down!!! :djuhi: Me, thinking about the question really, really hard...I'd go with James Brown Get Up Offa That Thing. Its got the lot and then some. Rarely hear it mentioned in threads and Ithink it's one of those tracks which are over looked. Classic. Edited January 8, 2009 by Dukesy

Robster 0
Mine is Arthur Conley - "Sweet Soul Music". Rarely played but well received. This is what i meant with section B) I not only play this track when doing a disco gig but i also sing it on karaoke nights too... This track always goes down well. its a great good feeling tune i usually play it followed by something like higher and higher by Jackie Wilson Rob Star EntertainmentsFacebook pagelandline 0161 265 3421Mobile: 0777 99 777

brokentoenail 0
up to now i think they are all well played standards that not many people have forgotten. especially in a soul / funk type set. i would play walking in rythym - donald bird and the blackbyrds. loads of people have approached me when i played this and said what a tune havent heard it in ages. funkymook 0
Blow Your Head - Fred Wesley and the J.B.s I love it when I find out I have some funk lovers in the audience! just re-read original question - maybe Fred Wesley wouldn't be OK in 'normal' type function...so reload and second shot, and maybe a bit more general crowd friendly, Rocksteady - Aretha Franklin http://www.indieretrodj.com http://www.souldisco.co.uk
