I receive regular emails from Money Saving Expert run by Martin Lewis and just received the following which will help you find the cheapest LEGAL download.

Coming from MSE, it's reliable, ad free and safe.

As they say, every little helps..........

Special email about major new MoneySaving tool

www.TuneChecker.com

Finds the cheapest single & album MP3s

e.g. download no.1 album for 3.79 not 7.99

We've built a totally free, ad free new tool, that instantly searches legal download sites whether for iPods or other MP3, to find the cheapest tracks. It's called www.tunechecker.com, and frankly the best way to understand it is to try it.

Quick Tunechecker stats

* Over 9 million tracks. It scans nine million tracks at nine download sites.

* Biggest price difference listed is 153.02. Radiohead's The Best Of album currently ranges from 6.97 to 159.99 (yep it really is selling it at that price - of course this is likely to be the retailer's error - but elsewhere variance of 50-100% is common).

* Lists 346 free MP3s. It's found (and lists) over 300 currently available legal free downloads inc: Basement Jaxx Feelings Gone, Oli Brown Open Road, Nine Inch Nails Discipline, Mystery Jets Diamonds In The Dark and Royksopp Tricky Tricky. The main tunechecker menu lets you display the full list of free tracks.

* Includes five Top 40 charts. Charts listed include the official top 40 singles, albums, classical, dance & R&B. Plus you can listen to sample tracks.

* Price difference on current no.1 album is 4.02. The cheapest Susan Boyle's 'I dreamed a dream' download is 3.97; its average price is 6.87 and most expensive 7.99. The cheapest CD version is 7.68. (See the full top 10 below).

Martin Lewis and the MSE team.
Pls tell friends & family, forward this email (but don't spam) or post on Facebook, Twitter etc.

I had this through email the other day too - Was going to post about it, but you beat me to it!

Seems pretty good! I also signed up to Sky Songs for free through last weeks MSE... 10 tracks or one album download...

Cheers,

Cheers!
Saved me a few quid today using this! 40 on music, probably would have been 45/50 on iTunes/7Digital.

karaoke downloads are expensive i only know of two sites where you can buy single tracks and they are zoom and SBI

but most karaoke tracks you have to buy a minimum of three at a time at 2.00 a track.. karaoke users penalised once again sad.gif

Anyone know a site where you can buy legal, one off tracks, with good branded karaoke labels?

I doubt it. Spotify is really easy to use. Sky Songs requires a browser too.
Plus if you're spotify premium you can play them offline...

Sky songs didn't have one track that Amazon had - Although my wife told me the track I downloaded I could have got cheaper elsewhere If I'd checked the tunchecker site. Thing is though I had amazon vouchers, so didn't realyl "cost" anything...

Cheers,

you can only download napster tracks if you subscribe to Napster To Go. they used to allow it on a normal subscription but removed that option. You do get MP3 credits with your subscription (not wma no drm etc) which you can burn to cd etc.

the leagl issue with Napster/Spotify/Sky is not clear - sure it states in the T&C's not for commercial use but i tunes beatport etc etc etc state the same.

I am going to write to PRS in the new year for clarification on such services as they told me on the phone recently 'any legal downloads'

[b] Guys

For those who are using tunechecker for albums, i'll save you some time on saying that tune tribe are selling the albums as individual tracks so don't beleive it saying 7.99 when it's more like 123.49.(101 ibiza anthems) I think it's a loop hole for these download site not being able to sell cheap downloads now,
