Gary 0
Does anyone know if theres a mix/remix of the Eric Prydz current (eventual) hit: "Call on me" which DOESNT have that tacky, annoying compression (sucking sound) attached to the Bass note... http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/yucky.gif but still stays fairly true to the main (albeit repetitive) track. If so, please let me know the mix/version name, cheers.
brianmole 0
Hi Gary, I am in touch with Data who gave me all the mixes for this track 3 months ago http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/smile.gif . I will listen to them and PM you back later today. Brian
RobbieD 0
I don't expect so Gary. It is a delberate (although annoying) effect. It sounds like the system is being heavily run in to the limiters, which I guess is the effect the producer intended. (The chances are that he frequents, or DJ's at a club where the system is overdriven to the point where every track sounds like that!) The compression effect & repetition remind me of Togethers "So Much Love To Give". But look at the positive - doesn't it feel good when it ends. Gary 0
I vaguely recall "Music sounds better with you" having the same thing on it, eg: letting the energy of the bass note compress everything else on the track, (except the vocals) for the duration of each bass note. Tacky effect - people think that theres something wrong http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/fear.gif This track falls into the same category as Kelis's "Milkshake", from the point of view that once you've heard the first 20 seconds of the track, you've heard all the track... http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif

DJshaggy 0
QUOTE (RobbieD @ Sep 27 2004, 02:55 PM) The compression effect & repetition remind me of Togethers "So Much Love To Give". Spot on mate they are both Thomas Bangalter tunes. Not everyones thing but one of my favourite tunes at the moment this is.... then again so was 'so much love to give' when that was out http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/tongue.gif If it aint got that Swing, it Dont mean a thing!! Gary 0
QUOTE (Dj_Kray @ Sep 27 2004, 03:18 PM) I like it. its a great club tune but each to there own i have not heard a remix with the reqirements you want I agree - its a good club/dance tune. To clarify, when I said about the bass "sucking" I didn't mean that in a derogitory, or slang way of saying "The bass is not very good". I meant that the bass seems to pull (or suck) the sound level down by a couple of dB on every bass note.

ChrisPointon 0
QUOTE (tonyj @ Oct 18 2004, 04:52 PM) just learnt this got to Number 1 on sales of 22,000 units... the smallest sales of any number 1 http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/tongue.gif Doesn't surprise me in the slightest. There is no skill in creativity to music these days. Now all you need to do is to remix a track, or overlay a sample from one track over the 'Auto - Demo' mode of a Bontempi keyboard and you have a number 1. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/whistling.gif. We don't have musicians these days, just photocopiers. Still, not surprising that music has taken the same turn as television programs is it?.
