It's the weekend again - 14th/15th October 2005

Recommended Posts

Friday: Just got back from doing a wedding in a castle in Hartfield (Winnie the Poo town). Went really well, groom asked for a few wicked tracks including Prodigy - out of space http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/kid.gif

Towards the end, I mixed this lot up:

Chemical Brothers - Superstar DJs

Faithless - Insomnia

Jaydee - Plastic dreams

Loveland - Let the music lift you up

Underworld - Born Slippy

Darude - Sandsorm

Made my week, great to get an audience like this for a change

http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/cool.gif http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/notworthy.gif

Best received track of the night was Jaydee - Plastic dreams http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/thumbup.gif

Saturday: Night off, off to see some comedy in Brighton with Mrs Mole as the kids are farmed out for sleepovers http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/inlove.gif

How about you lot?

Just come back from a fantatic 21st birthday.

60 people (approx) in a rather small, but well decorated modern room. Setup in the corner, only needed 2 lights to fill the room (1x Abstract Galactic Moon, 1x MiniMoon)

The room had pretty much nowhere to dance due to its size, tables and chairs were arranged but I had people dancing between some tables and where I was setup (where you could only fit about 2 people widthways and 5 lengthways!) and on the tables etc.

Played some serious Hip Hop which they loved, the usual 60s 70s cheese towards the end for the older generation.

One of the best gigs of the year.

This has to be the most boring'est thread on here, it's allmost predicatcble! so I predict next weeks!

Andy is going to be doing 600 quiz nights followed by a wedding cake delivaery and a fair inbetween picking currants out of his teeth and scratching his ar$e!

Chris off course will be found in the fun pub writhing obnoxiosies on bear mats as well as phone numbers!

Brian will be in another castle, lose with a camera! yet we only get pictures of his disco http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/wacko.gif Yes were jealous you have a star cloth http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/sad.gif

Dj sounds will have another 50th or 60th

Jeff will be found Saturday afternoon doing his bugsby impression intercepting phone calls for that last minute booking!

Dan will be in the comfort of his cushtie residency.

Gary no doubt will be spotted somewhere in a strange hat pushing molly and dolly about, and the Blackpool boys are going to high jack the pier and hold a rave! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/wacko.gif

Me...........I want a boring predicatble night! not one where I have to wear 2 coconuts and a grass skirt http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/wacko.gif I want the AA to rescue me when I run out of petrol and I want parking when I get home I also need party revellers not packing gear away into my car so well that I can't find my clothes I arrived in!

I thank my cable hiding black cloth for keeping me nearly warm last night and I apologise to any drivers who may have spotted me on the A316 http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/blush.gif

Have a good Sunday everyone! off to cook a roast for 11 http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/wacko.gif http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/042.gif

21st last night in a small pub function room.

Got there to find the resident DJ , the landlords 12 year old son, shifting his gear out of the way. He says to me that I'll need the four way extension lead thats coming from the behind the bar that he uses, as thats the only power in the room as the socket where you set up doesn't work. Luckily, I tested the socket and it worked so ended up alright for power.

No space to set up and ended up with T Bar behind me,

About 60 people with no "dance floor" as such, just a space in the middle.

Took a little while to get them going, but when they did, they certainly went for it.

If the place had had a sound limiter they'd have set it off before me. Singing to the top of their voices to Love Shack, 500 miles, Build Me Up etc. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/thumbup.gif

Ever noticed how sometimes when you don't really feel like doing a gig just before you go out that it turns into a belter. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/533.gif

Yes, I know EXACTLY what you're talking about there! Some of my best nights have been when I really would have rather stayed at home instead.

Many a night! Including last night... the ones where you aren't in the mood / nervous, usually turn out to be the best nights.

I can't believe that there have been a few replies since Paula posted this and not one has commented on:

I do agree that these weekend threads do tend to be pretty boring which is why I hardly ever contribute/read them. Fair enough if you have a genuinely interesting event you're gonna do, or if something strange/unusual happened at a gig but as Paula pointed out there are always so many comments of 'I'm doing this pub' or 'doing a 21st' http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/sleep1.gif ...obviously must add the disclaimer that this is of course just my opinion and no personal slur was intended on any of you lovely people http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/tongue.gif

Its quite simple... if you find it boring then don't read it. Stay away. Put the telly on.

I find it quite interesting to see what everyone else is up to at a weekend.

Maybe start a new thread: "strange and interesting things from this weekend".

This thread is usually called "What are you doing this weekend"... it does exactly what it says on the tin.

Sorry Paula , not doing the fun pub anymore ! Will be playing a sex club which also gives me free bacardi , need a female roadie , got time ? I agree life is boring I must get a new woman ! One that not only does the housework but also entertains me ! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/071.gif Might apply for the job of andys ar$e scratcher , now that sounds exciting . Did you mean the polar bear mat or a grizzly bear mat ! I feel its time for me to visit London again but this time i am choosing the pub so that we find one that sells bacardi ! Come on guys dont take things so seriously !

Ive often thought of the security issue of saying what your doing

for example somebody might post...."off to do a wedding with the wife on sat night, taking the kids as we know the people getting married" therefore telling the world their not at home!!

I frequently post stuff like this, but thought the other day it might be worth while not giving totaly frank and detailed posts if you know what i mean

After all if youve got a business, advertised etc etc its easy to find your address is it not?

Just a thought, some dishonest people who can read this forum might use this info to screw your house knowing your out? Am i right saying the forum is open to public to read?

The Topic actually comes under the heading 'How was it for you' and the original intention was for members to add post gig reports however it has become a 'where I'm gonna be thread' which isn't quite so interesting http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/sleep1.gif
