milhouse 0
Just come back from a fantatic 21st birthday. 60 people (approx) in a rather small, but well decorated modern room. Setup in the corner, only needed 2 lights to fill the room (1x Abstract Galactic Moon, 1x MiniMoon) The room had pretty much nowhere to dance due to its size, tables and chairs were arranged but I had people dancing between some tables and where I was setup (where you could only fit about 2 people widthways and 5 lengthways!) and on the tables etc. Played some serious Hip Hop which they loved, the usual 60s 70s cheese towards the end for the older generation. One of the best gigs of the year.

High Fidelity 0
21st last night in a small pub function room. Got there to find the resident DJ , the landlords 12 year old son, shifting his gear out of the way. He says to me that I'll need the four way extension lead thats coming from the behind the bar that he uses, as thats the only power in the room as the socket where you set up doesn't work. Luckily, I tested the socket and it worked so ended up alright for power. No space to set up and ended up with T Bar behind me, About 60 people with no "dance floor" as such, just a space in the middle. Took a little while to get them going, but when they did, they certainly went for it. If the place had had a sound limiter they'd have set it off before me. Singing to the top of their voices to Love Shack, 500 miles, Build Me Up etc. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/thumbup.gif Ever noticed how sometimes when you don't really feel like doing a gig just before you go out that it turns into a belter. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/533.gif Quitting Smoking & Drinking doesn't make you live longer It just feels like it. QUOTE (paula @ Oct 16 2005, 10:57 AM)This has to be the most boring'est thread on here, it's allmost predicatcble! so I predict next weeks!... I do agree that these weekend threads do tend to be pretty boring which is why I hardly ever contribute/read them. Fair enough if you have a genuinely interesting event you're gonna do, or if something strange/unusual happened at a gig but as Paula pointed out there are always so many comments of 'I'm doing this pub' or 'doing a 21st' http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/sleep1.gif ...obviously must add the disclaimer that this is of course just my opinion and no personal slur was intended on any of you lovely people http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/tongue.gif Anthony Winyard Entertainment www.awe-dj.co.uk, Entertaining London & the South-East! milhouse 0
Its quite simple... if you find it boring then don't read it. Stay away. Put the telly on. I find it quite interesting to see what everyone else is up to at a weekend. Maybe start a new thread: "strange and interesting things from this weekend". This thread is usually called "What are you doing this weekend"... it does exactly what it says on the tin. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/fear.gif
C.S 0
Sorry Paula , not doing the fun pub anymore ! Will be playing a sex club which also gives me free bacardi , need a female roadie , got time ? I agree life is boring I must get a new woman ! One that not only does the housework but also entertains me ! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/071.gif Might apply for the job of andys ar$e scratcher , now that sounds exciting . Did you mean the polar bear mat or a grizzly bear mat ! I feel its time for me to visit London again but this time i am choosing the pub so that we find one that sells bacardi ! Come on guys dont take things so seriously ! Edited October 16, 2005 by C.S I will try anything, once! The Cornish will arise again ! Manager of the Andy Harris Fan Club. jeffwall 0
Ive often thought of the security issue of saying what your doing for example somebody might post...."off to do a wedding with the wife on sat night, taking the kids as we know the people getting married" therefore telling the world their not at home!! I frequently post stuff like this, but thought the other day it might be worth while not giving totaly frank and detailed posts if you know what i mean After all if youve got a business, advertised etc etc its easy to find your address is it not? Just a thought, some dishonest people who can read this forum might use this info to screw your house knowing your out? Am i right saying the forum is open to public to read?
