  1. Crank that? Soulja boy? Worst bloody tune i have ever heard to be honest. Have played it as a request, would never ever play it off my own back. Rubbish, dance floor emptier, you need to be a hoodie wearer to listen to it. Why,why, why, why???? Sorry about that. Bob
  2. Fiat Scudo 1.9 Diesel Van Twin side loading doors, rear opening doors, perfect for access to all gear and low loading height as well. Economical too!! Bob
  3. RUN to the hills-Iron Maiden
  4. I find that what works really well is to tell them to lightly rest the end of the mic on the tip of their chin and speak normally. Bob
  5. I voted both. You have to be approachable, friendly and be able to have a giggle with your audience without offending anyone. But also, i think it is very important to know when to shut up and "let the funky music do the talking....."! Bob
  6. Thanks for that! LINE is the way to go!!! I really like this laptop deeyjaying! Tried it for first time at a gig last night. Managed to go for a most urgently reqd "sit down" toilet visit mid gig!!!! Ha ha! I can see how you can get lazy with them though. Anyway, last night was a test to ensure that i fully understand it and the next big test will be an informal karaoke night with a load of friends as a practice before i do my first proper paying Karaoke night. I have been deejaying for close on 8 years now, done karaoke only once as a favour for a friend and i must admit i am looking forward
  7. Actually, no it wasn't! It was bought from a large supplier in West Yorkshire who specialise in laptops and tv's. Any of you guys who have driven on the M62 motorway around the M606 junction will have seen their adverts on big signs in the fields next to the motorway. I must stress that the supplier was very good and it is how problems are sorted out, not so much the original problem, that companies are judged on. These guys were very helpful. In fact they deserve a mention, it was Laptops Direct at Huddersfield. Thank you Laptops Direct!!!! Anyway, had a bit of a play with it last night.
  8. Mmmm, if you are really into computers and they are a hobby as well as a tool, buy it! But, if you are going on the internet with it and want to dj with it too plus all the other stuff you want to do i personally would be a bit apprehensive when turning up at a gig and keeping my fingers crossed that it didnt crash. I bought mine solely for my dj business, i have a desktop at home for messin around on, my laptop is going to be kept as clean as a whistle. That said i am pretty ignorant when it comes to computers and to be fair, i read the using a laptop for djing article that is on this site so
  9. Ok! I am back! I know you have been waiting to see the outcome of my laptop debacle. Ladies and gentlemen..........................there is a god! Went back, was polite but firm, they fully understood, agreed i had been mis-sold, and apologised in the best way possible, i am now the owner of a laptop of the same make, with 2 gig of ram, vista home premium instead of basic, and some other stuff which went over my head, no extra cost, and worth £150.00 more than the one i originally bought! Have put the program on and tried it..............perfect. Thank you computer compa
  10. Right everyone!! Have just got the call to say bring the laptop back, so, if anybody needs to ask me anything, i will reply on my return (probably 3 or 4 hours time) and give you all a hopefully happy ending to the story. Please god let this next one be right!!!! Bob
  11. OK, in answer to all your questions, the laptop runs the following spec, intel celeron processor M 520 1.6ghz 533 MHz 1mb L2 Cache Intel graphics media accelerator 950 2Gb DDr2 80Gb HDD DVD super multi double layer 15.4" WXGA Acer Crystalbrite LCD (which kinda gives away the manufacturer of the laptop. There is nothing wrong with the laptop itself, i really like it and am told that lots of DJ's use them cos they are reliable) Mine has 512mb of ram and the new one runs 1 gig of ram apparently. The programs i have been trying to run (and i have tried them both) are
  12. Thanks for that, and i agree! Interesting about changing the display setting. Anyway, have just got off the phone to the company and they are going to swop it for a similar model with more ram. Don't ya just love technology! Bob
  13. :!: Hi all, just thought i had better pass on a bit of information that i have just found out to my cost and inconvenience. (might be worth pinning this thread) I bought a laptop from a company (i won't name them)who advertised on their website that they specialise in giving advice on the best laptop to buy for a particular application. Being not particularly clued up on how computers internal bits work, I emailed my requirements, (to run dj / karaoke software, nothing else, and that all my music files would be stored on an external 500GB harddrive.) Got a quick reply stating that a partic
  14. I totally agree! Isn't it funny how really cheesy stuff seems to work best in the last 2 hours of the gig? I have my personal thoughts on that and here they are rightly or wrongly. Everybody gets up, all age groups. Dancefloor is getting full. More people get up. Dance floor rammed! At the end of the night you get asked for a load of business cards and everyone goes home happy. I tend to play chart stuff at the start of the night and watch as people nod their heads and jig on their chairs, this gives me a good idea as to what everybody likes. And you can almost guarantee that someo
  15. Hi all, need a bit of advice. Am starting up Karaoke along with my Mobile disco business, have bought a laptop etc etc etc. Am now ready to choose some software to run both the karaoke and the disco. I will still use my cd's etc alongside until i get really slick with using the program. Its true, the older you get the slower you learn technical stuff. Have had a go with PCDJ, and find it a bit complicated (i am a very simple person!) but i think i have hit on a very simple program that i have had a play with called Virtual DJ studio v5. (and its main selling point is it works with windows vist
  16. Dumpys Rusty Nuts-It's either called "I'm only happy when i'm ridin me hog" or "Box Hill, Box Hill here we come". Lyrics kinda go like this Box Hill, Box Hill, Here we come I aint happy till i'm doin a ton A cup full of splosh and a greasy dog I'm only happy when i'm ridin me Hog. Explanation of Lyrics: Box Hill is a meeting place somewhere in London where all the bikers go on a weekend to meet up and chat etc. A ton is obviously 100mph A cup of splosh is a cup of tea (Served by the mobile catering van which am assuming parks at Box Hill) A greasy Dog is a greas
  17. Sat at my laptop and was well chuffed when figured out how to do something in an excel program. Made myself a boiled spud with no filling and ate it whilst watching the potted plant in the corner grow.
  18. To which the Dj said no i think he is.....................................................
  19. ........but the confusion was quickly solved when he opened his mouth to say something and all that came out was one two one two ladies and gentlemen, the buffet is now open........
  20. Since writing down my story on this forum about nearly getting beaten up/gear wrecked, and having so many people respond with such good comments and advice and also hearing that it's not just me (thanks all if you read the post you will know what i am talking about) you have all cheered me up and i have now returned to my normal stupid self. Oh dear whats he going to do now i hear you say. Right! Lets start a story (funny as possible) about deejaying. Write as much as you want then leave it at point where the next person can carry on the story. Ok, i will start it. Once upon a t
  21. Sorry! No discussion here, just wanted to see how many people view this post. Ha ha Bob
  22. Oh dear. Did you eventually get over that incident? I do feel sorry for you and i hope it never happens to you again mate. All the best. Bob
  23. Did a gig the other night. Played some songs. People danced a bit. Got some money. Went home. Probably do it again sometime. Bob Oh, and won't reply to anybody cos i can't be a:cense:d. Bob
