    Barbie Girl

I think Salamanda having released it again but not doing such a good job of it has brought it fresh back into peoples minds. If you have the CD Single try playing track 3, its starts off a bit more funky and has a better beat to it, and people have tend to of prefferred that version when I play it. Someone also requested Dr Jones as well the other day ! This was the point where I admitted I still have the Aquarium album lol.
  3. I got myself a storage unit. It has just been built in our town and only takes 5 mins to get there. I have 3 pairs of speakers in there and all the lighting and projectors. The only thing I keep at home is the CD's. Its the best thing I've ever done and its shaved so much time off loading the gear up. I can pull it out of the storage room on a trolley. It actually saves me about half hour each side from using it, and its heated all the time. I only pay £52.00 for a good sized room. Well worth it !!
  4. New Years Eve I tend to have a few drinks as I am able to leave the equipment at the venue to pack down the next day and I live pretty much opposite the venue. But this year I didnt, was suffereing heavily from a proper flu lol.
  5. My first song after the band played Auld Lang Syne was also Come On Eileen !! The last song was Whitney Houston - I will Always love you And they played out to Always look on the bright side of life. This always seem to work really well playing this as the last song, and its funny listening to people whistling the tune for a while afterwards lol. Had a great night with 200 people at the event !! GREAT !!! And I really enjoyed myself depsite suffering badly from Man Flu and almost losing my voice. nathan
  6. Looks like you had a great night !! I tried to take some photos on New Years Eve but my new camera's flash is not that good. Are they Martin Adventurers you have on the stands ? I had a couple of them and found they were really good lights. Cheers
  7. I had problems with getting work when I lived in the Norfolk area. I would say that you should add a little on to what you have said originally, as there a few "cowboys" in the area that go out for £100 a night, and some people arent bothered by that when booking. Which is a shame!!
  8. I have the same mixer, and a Kam KCD player, I find that you have to push the single play button twice so it goes on and then off on both channels. Also my microphone volume controller is so dry it crackles when the volume is adjusted, so as money funding tight until next year I am connecting my Carlsbro stage mixer to it, takes a little longer to set up tho. ALso my Dual CD Players dont read copied Discs at all, when I have been given them at functions to play by the guests or have copied a CD so I can flip between the copy and the original the copied one doesnt work!
  9. I also find Scissor sisteers - Dont feel like dancing works. Others ones I use : Pussycay Dolls - Dont Cha, Sugarbabes - Push the Button Shania Twain - Man I feel like a women Christina Aguilera - Sharks Tale Car Wash version Peter Andre - Mysterious Girl

    The Music Game

You Got A Friend - Brand New Heavies (so good to see this thread still going strong !)
  11. I'm a bit mean, I cut the beginning bit out, and start cutting out nearer the end when the music gets slower and bring in Living on a prayer or Chesney Hawkes - I am the one and only. Is that being mean ?? lol
  12. I used my smoke machine once at Aylesbury Vale Golf Club. I didnt spray alot of the smoke, just enough to see the light beams and it did set the alarm off, and the sensor that located it was the one near the stage. I tested it at home. If you have a standard smoke alarm spray smoke it heavily and it will go off. However every other venues I always tend to use smoke machines and have never managed to set them off. Thing its how sensitive their system is!! Cheers
  13. Well the last couple of times was the first times I have actually used the projector screens. I am going to use them all the time on the Karaoke setup, but am going to start charging extra, say £25 or something for my time for scanning the photos into the computer to project on the screens during the night. It was a real good focal point. I set up towards one side of the lighting stands, and had the screen hang from the truss. Everyone stopped and stood near the stage to look at the photos, and everyone commented on how good it looked. With the recording, I did it in the clients hous
  14. I actually took my camcorder with me that night with a tripod. When the singer was on I had the camera focussed on him, and people also liked seeing themselves dancing on the screen!! I got the photos a few days before and scanned about 20 of them in total, they were baby pictures and embarassing pictures. I got 5 bookings altogether now, and 4 of them have requested the projector screens be used. Also the recorded speech system worked well, as quite alot of people are mic shy!! Cheeers!
  15. After looking at the demo's on Youtube I have been persuaded. The thought of not needing to worry about changing bulbs again and the weight sounds very appealing! The price is quite cheap as well I think, and the brightness of the LED's has improved hugely! Will have to look into a little more when they come out in the UK Cheers
  16. I did a 50th Birthday party at Brooklands Club in Leighton Buzzard, with about 250 guests. Was a really good night with people up and dancing, and with no uptodate music at all. Got 3 bookings from it! Tried something different, as the birthday girl will not talk on microphones I recommended recording her speech on a mini disc and playing it back on the night, and it actually worked really well! It was hard for me to get the attention of everybody as there was a lot of people. Also I have invested into a multimedia projector, and I charged extra for this service. I scanned b
  17. Thats why I always treat mine like a lady and fold her up gently lol When I use it Saturday I'll have a look. I thought it used White LED's and not bulbs. I'll have a look and keep you posted on Sunday what I discovered!! Cheers!
  18. After having problems with my Jem Technofog and it not been working since February I have finally found a solution!! When I was plugging my DMX controller in last week to the lights noticed that there is a sound to light entry socket and a........DIN SMOKE MACHINE SOCKET!! I had a spare 5pin DIN plug-5pin DIN plug lead. I thought to try and plug one end into the smoke machine and the other end into the controller and..... IT WORKS!! It was going to cost £85 for a new controller for the smoke machine as the PCB on the controller had broken. http://images4.thomann.de/pics/pro
  19. I have been looking into getting a couple of moving heads myself. I am debating wether or not to get a couple of moving heads, or for almost £100 cheaper get a 4pack of scanners such as the Dynamo Scans or the Zoom Scatscans. Think I would probably be buying the moving heads as a toy rather than the practicability. I have thought how much extra space they would use and they would need to be flightcased up. 20. I'm going to try and get a residency in a bar or funpub. I would love to be able to DJ more but without all the gear lugging. Am going to send some CV's out and see how I get on!!
  21. I best look into this one as well. I have a prolight LED Booth Star CLoth and would be good to know how to change them. I know you can, as there is a zip on the bottom where you can open it up to change the bulbs. Cheers
  22. In Great Yarmouth I did : 11.00pm - 6.00am once as the DJ that starts the night off was off sick. Slept all day the next day until about 4pm lol. It was work in a DJ Booth so no equipment to pack away apart from the mic, but evenless was absolutly nacred!!
  23. How do you find the JTS mic ?? We used to use them on the holiday site, bought 2 of them as they were advised by the dealer that they are as good as Sennheisers. They sounded awful with my Cheapy Sing to the work karaoke cordless mics sounding so much better and only paid £45 for them!!
  24. Shame its only on for 10minutes a night though. Am hoping to go to Blackpool again for a holiday next year so will get to see for myself!! Cheers
