  1. I have found a version thats is quite good. its by weekend - Auld Lang Syne Its on one of the Mastermix Discs. Mastermix Party. I have checked my collection and have realised that my CD case is an empty one and am now struggling to find this version for new years eve !!
  2. Today I have had 2 new bulbs turn up for my Bird Of Prey light. It uses 2 x 300 watt bulbs. I ordered the exact ones that it needed but in Soundlab brand from the internet. The light worked fine the last time I used it and it has been in a cupboard in my spare room for about 6-7 months now. Today I put 2 of the bulbs in and the unit sounded like it blew up. It sparked and tripped the electrics out in my house and smoke poured from the unit. When I opened the housing up one of the bulbs had shattered entirely and glass was everywhere inside the unit from the bulb. I was wondering
  3. Does anyone know if there is a meet as usual planned for DJ's United Members ?? Didnt get chance to go last year but defo going this year, Tickets already ordered.
  4. Are you using Mini Discs ??
  5. I have gone through 2 Martin Ego 1's and had the same problem with both of them which i strange. Was really disappointed after paying £230 each for them and now got them in the spare room non-functional. The Galactic Moon's I found as they have a 100watt bulb they werent overly bright and the optics dont wear very good with time. I do like the casing on them though. Depends on the condition of them really. I know they have combined colour and gobo wheels and have the same specifications as the Abstract Futurescan 1ce in everyway but obviosuly a twister reflector. Couple of p
  6. I have a Futurescan 1ce and a Twister 3 100watt version in my front room on my fireplace. They have finally retired lol. :joe:
  7. I used to use Jacks, but after repeatidly plugging them in and unplugging them at every gig I found that the jack sockets started to weaken and had to have them replaced on my first pair of speakers, especially when having them on stands. I would always recommend Speakon connectors, I use the Peavey Pro 15's and use the speakon connector on them all the time. Alot hearder to "accidentally" unplug and much more reliable over time. Hope this helps ::
  8. I have been thinking about this to make things even more simpler. At the momen I am still using my DMX Stairville Master DMX desk. This is ok and the sound to light is superb when you run and audio signal into it. I have heard good reviews about this piece of kit : http://images.maplin.co.uk/full/l62bj.jpg * This unit can control DMX fixtures using a PC and USB interface * Test software and DMX Light Player software is included * A DLL is provided to write your own software * There is a stand alone test function that outputs all 512 channels at a time, wit
  9. We've noticed that Numark prices have gone up alot as well. I know I will certainly not be paying out for Martin Lighting ever again. I bought 2 martin ego's and both of them have broke, and they both have exactly the same fault, and will cost about 200 quid to fix.
  10. I buy the bubble fluid from Tesco. "Tesco Bubble Solution" Its only £1.25 and its 1 Litre. I find this works much better than soundlab bubble fluid. The only other problem I suppose you could have could be with the fan so maybe check that :O)
  11. Dont the peavey powered subs have Class-D amps in them ? I cant understand that considering Peavey manufacture and produce their own amplifiers.

  14. I have 2 Mini Disc players that I use for this, I picked them up off Ebay for about £40 each, and a cheapy flight case, have never had any problems with them. sometimes I put a camera on top of the monitor the singer is reading the lyrics off and then run an output to a DVD recorder I bought from tesco, this can be sold to the singer for a fiver making yourself quite a bit of money.
  15. I think it looked quite scary the way that all them speakers were being hoisted up by a few metal chains! Obviously they are made to do this, but it just looked strange seeing them wobbling around in the video !!
  16. On New years Eve just gone, I was really ill. To the point my Dad and my brother had to set my equipment up. And on the night of DJing I had to keep running to the dressing room to be sick. It was a really bad flu, hot sweat even tho the venue was cold. Dizziness it was horrid. But my brother helped me through the night, and it didnt even show to any of the guests !! I was quite proud of myself, but the large pay cheque from new years eve had something to do with it as well, although I have never let anyone down before.

  18. Heres a couple. Kathyrns Bingo is one I have used a couple of years ago. It can even print out the playing cards for you. The other bingo package on there reads the numbers out for you in a computer voice which is quite anoying. Hope this helps http://quiztimeuk.multiply.com/journal/item/212 CLICKY Cheers
  19. I have just placed my free Ad with Yell. Also it gets put in the Yellow Pages as well, Which I didnt realise. On a big campaign to get myself noticed in my new area. Work dried up badly in Bedfordshire, so have moved back to Sunny Great Yarmouth and bookings havent lifted off as much as I wanted them to. The day job is good working 7-3pm 5 days a week leaving time for me to DJ most evenings. Any help or suggestions would be most appreciated. Cheers.
  20. With my 2 Mini Disc players, I have cut the feet of them and put wings on them and put them in a flightcase. With the tascam ones, they do have a few better features on them than the Sony Minidisc player. You can plug your PC keyboard in and name the tracks, as where with Sony you have to use the remote control like texting on a phone. I know many cabarets and acts who use these mini disc players. The only feature to look at is auto pause so when the song is finished it stops and pauses on the next track. Apart from that there is no difference between the tascam and sony one.
  21. Thanks for that, that was really helpful. I have always been baffled when it comes to working out impedance !! Cheers
  22. I use this little device : http://www.maplin.co.uk/images/300/cn47b.jpg With this SharpVision Projector : http://www.sharp-eu.com/katalog/ce/lcdp/back/xvc2e.gif I dont know much about projectors but this is the link to it and got a good deal on it http://www.sharp-eu.com/katalog/ce/lcdp/xvc2e.htm Then this device feeds to my screen and others if there are more required at a venue. Even though it says audio control, its Phono sockets on the back. I use this to flip between my DVD input, Laptop and Camcorder. The 3rd socket is a jack socket and have never used this.
  23. If you were using speakers each side, 1 at 8ohms and the other at 4 ohms what would that be each side please ??
  24. I've recently over the past year started playing Monty Python - Always look on the bright side of life as a last song. I dont know why i picked this song, but have found it works a treat. For ages after the music is turned off you can hear people whistling it whilst walking around, and even the bar staff at the venues walking around singing it !
  25. I bought this little device costing 99p from ebay : http://i15.ebayimg.com/06/i/000/d5/ae/ae68_1.JPG The other side that you cant see is a phono socket, As its easier to wire up a longer phono lead than it is a S-VHS, I think as a rule most laptops the output is via one of the S-VHS Sockets. My Laptop, my brothers, my pC and my Mums all have this socket on it. The above plug works fine for me !! Cheers !!
