Hugmaster 0
Hi Last night's 80's party was absolutely stunning! The lady in question had obviously chosen her guests very well as they all turned up in some cool 80's gear and danced 90% of the time. Got to play some great tracks I haven't played in ages and they really went for it in a huge way. Even had requests for Black lace's superman and hokey cokey, very scarey! Example of some of the tracks played... Adam Ant, Goody two shoes Stray Cats, Stray Cat strut Kids From Fame, Hi Fidelity Kenny Loggins, Footloose Jacquie Graham, Set me free Blancmange, Don't tell me Thompson Twins, Doctor Doctor 12' version Go West, Call me Prince, Let's go crazy/Purple Rain Kim Wild, You came/keep me hanging on Will Powers, Kissing with confidence Duran Duran, Reflex/Planet Earth Human League, Sound of the crowd/mirror man Bananarama, Shy boy/ain't what you do Still buzzing, it'll last me all week. robbiedj 0
Good night on Saturday, but rather strange.Usual crowd of regulars, but a high proportion of females, who were in a disco and generally 60’s-80’s mood. Had some odd floor-fillers :- Matchstalkmen and Matchstalk Cats And Dogs (request), Woolly Bully, Lily The Pink And a set of old Eurovision songs, Save Your Kisses For Me, Making Your Mind Up and Ooh, Ah, Just A Little Bit. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/wacko.gif Also fantastic reaction just after midnight, when we did a short VE day commemoration, with Land Of Hope And Glory and Rule Britannia (with Union Jack and Last Night Of The Proms bouncing), followed by 3 Glenn Miller tracks, Don’t Sit Under The Apple Tree, Tuxedo Junction and Pennsylvania 65000, which prompted a lively jive session http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/tongue.gif They all joined in with the songs and said afterwards how good it was. A Polish group were ecstatic at the flag-waving bit and pleased when we mentioned The Polish Free Forces contribution to the war effort. It was particularly strange that the Irish regulars were the loudest singers and made the most comments. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/rolleyes.gif You want me to play what? YourBigEvent 0
Saturday's gig was a stormer, on aboat going around Torbay, requested 70's funk and soul, danced all night to the likes of Stevie Wonder Barry White O'Jays Sugarhill Gang Grandmaster Mel Wilson Pickett James Brown Fatback Band Amii Stewart Gwen Gutherie Jermaine Stewart Jackson 5 Princess Malcolm McDonald The Knack Clash Sweet Piranahs Madness The newest record played was Kiss by Prince. It was a nice change to play decent music for a change instead of the usual run of the mill stuff. The last record played as requested by the bride, groom, and everyone else was The Conga, so they could 'dance' around the boat thanking the crew before dancing off the boat. .....but what do I know ? brianmole 0
QUOTE The newest record played was Kiss by Prince. Never heard of it http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/whistling.gif Friday Night - YMCA club in Horsham, party for a family from France who were celebrating getting British citizenship. Good party for about 100 guests of all ages. Saturday: Big posh wedding in a Marquee in the back of a 8 bed house in Guildford for 186 guests. The access was diabolical, it took me 2 hours to set up in the afternoon. Luckily, I had done a site visit on Thursday, so I knew that I was in a separate little marquee, so the 1Kw sound system would be plenty. The funny thing was when I tried to drive the earth spike into the ground near where I was setting up. It would not go in. Then I remembered the marquee was on a tennis court http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/oops.gif Anyway, best speeches I have heard all year so far. It was a really enjoyable night. Here is a pic of the marquee, there was even LED starcloth on the ceiling - all together....... Cheezy 0
Had the oddest gig ever on Saturday. It was a retirement party, but known to me the son of the retired man had a 3 pice band so wanted to performe some tracks. The room is small, they the time they had set up all there gear half the dance floor was full! it turned out the attendance would be 30. I counted about 25. The band did the set about 9pm, and they really tried hard. Did some good covers, especially as 1 band member was around 12, and he did a a solo!!! Played some classic 70's 80's disco which kept the small floor looking full! Hope you all had a good one! Cheezy
