I purchased one of the Scanning green lasers from e-bay . It is truly an excellent bit of kit the difference between the 30mw appollo I had and the new 100+ mw is incredible. Lovely laser sky effects 126 patterns , 8 channel DMX or sound to light ariel effects. I get so many positive comments about it especially from groups of punters who love their dance tunes :-) You don't need much smoke and beams are visible even with the lights on. A few words of warning though , the guy who sells thm on e-bay lives in Australia so if you have a problem I should think there is little chance of you

Not sure what is going on , but in the last few days I have had loads of inquieries, so far it's turned into 74 bookings for this year already !! So far I've booked 6 gigs for 2006, not quite in to 2007 like Paula http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/fear.gif Anyone in Norfolk area want some recommendations I can't cope LOL !! Did a local village party for 150 . 7 - 1am . First couple of hours entertained the small children and youngsters with childrens party dances , balloon animals etc . Then on to loads of party dances and classic party tunes. Kind of odd night where only cheese went down well , tryed a few dance and R&B tracks but cleared the floor with them. Full dance floor for most of the night , plenty of good comments , 2 new bookings and as a bonus my new laptop sound card ran like a dream phew !! Also sold 40 flashing hair braids and some glow sticks , so some extra cash as well :-) Happy Ne

I just got a pair of Geni Mojo spin 1's to go with my moonflowers and scanners. Excellent effect ,250w , DMX and at only £79 each including postage I thought they were a bargain ! Had loads of good comments abount them, which is unusual as punters rarely notice what lighting you have ! Hayd http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/thumbup.gif

The tops still use their own amps the bass bin has either line out ( same as the input to it from the mixer ) or High pass ( ie same as line out but with the bass removed ) . Each speaker in this kind of system uses it's own amp with line level inputs. I don't know much about the LEM's but if the tops are powered they will also use their own amps with a bass bin. Hayd

For mackie tops only connect mixer directly to tops with xlrs . For sub , connect mixer to sub then take line out from sub to each top. ( there is filtered out or full line out ) . Hook up guide. link you need adobe acrobat to read Mackie hook up guide

Sounds quite reasonable for a powered bass bin . I have a pair of mackie 450's + the 1501 powered sub , plenty of power but pricey at £700 for the sub alone ! I'm sure there are plenty of threads on the passive / powered debate , have a search :-) Hayd

Apparently there is a speaker docking cable which attaches to it. Not seen a picture but the review I posted above mentions it. Hayd

Creative are launching a new laptop soundcard next week. Uses the Pcmcia slot and has the same THX certified output as the pc cards. I have loads of gear plugged into my usb hub so this will tidy things up as well as I hope improving sound quality.I'm going to get one and will write a review but in the mean time check out the site : http://www.soundblaster.com/products/Audig...gy2ZS_notebook/ Soundblaster notebook site Hayd Starmix Disco Website

I've had one of these for over a year and as started they eat bulbs, however if you have a big venue when you need a high light output they are excellent as a room filler. I use them to fill a sports center when I do roller discos, provides plenty of light for the skaters. I run them constantly for about 4 hrs with no problems ( i KNow this isn't recommended but needs must ) . For general discos however they are pants, far too bright and expensive to run. Hayd

Try running the home network setup wizard in windows xp , make sure you select the same workgroup. Then make sure you have your drives shared. Subnet mask should be 255.255.255.0

With regards the Mackie overheating problem, if you read their own forum you'll see it mentioned frequently. Mackie just fob you off saying you push them too hard ! ( rubbish , in a warm smokey room you will have trouble ) . When a friend of mine in the industry approached them they gave him an official fix where you wire a 10cm fan directly into the circuit board which sits in the top panel. Myself I went to [Edited] bought 2 mains voltage 13cm fans , screwed them to the back and wired them into the power supply. Since doing so ( nearly a year ago ) they have NEVER overheated ! Hayd

I've got the Mackie 450s Pros - They sound great , great clarity and power from a small cab ( 450 w rms each ). Cons - Quite heavy , prone to overheating unless you strap a fan to the back and of corse they are damn expensive. Hayd

Thanks folks , I think the main problem is like most DJ I like to have a full dance floor all night and they don't really get up untill about 11pm ( finishes at 1am ). Sounds like I'm playing the right sort of thing anyway :-) CHeers Hayd

I have an executive type club to do this weekend, I've been there a few times before but I often find it hard to get them going. The average age is probably 45 -55 although there are younger ( min age 26 ) . All are accountants / lawyers etc you get the kind of venue. Mostly there to discuss business rather than listen to me. Any suggestions as to what might go down really well with this crowd ? I've had varied successthey seem to like soul , funk , 80's and love n-trance , ricky martin and anastacia. Cheers Hayd
