Saturday private party in Marquee for a 21st birthday. Morning set up because they don't want us disturbing the meal then back in the evening. They also want karaoke which I haven't done for ages. Haven't printed off the song lists yet. Think that will be a project for the morning.

This weekend I am actually NOT wedding it up...

Tonight, I have a 40th Birthday party at my residency, for the person that originally gave me the gigs there.

Saturday - Had a wedding which got cancelled (the groom decided to end it 20 days ago by telling her he didnt love her, packed, went to his car and drove to the ferry and went to Norway (bless).) So then got booked for a kids party till 9.30pm who called this morning to cancel as the bday girl apparently is ill...

So will get paid the cancellation fee and will sit at home enjoying the company of my wife  with pizza, beer and a DVD.... (Unless anything better comes up!)

Sunday - Staff party for the local B&Q.

Nothing for me - the weekend off.

Been busy lately though, so a welcome break for me and the boy.

Probably helping a mate clear out the remains of his workshop after an arsonist set light to it. Did any of you locals read about it? He lost 6 bikes he was restoring and a trike, and isn't all that pleased about it.

If the police can prove who is responsible...

(Although we already know who he is)

Thursday wedding in a recently restored 18th century flour mill. The floor (& my rig) were bouncing all night and at the end the owner told me that the floor was still the original timber from 1790 :fear:

Hmmmm, strange day today. Done an early set up in a marquee. Dance floor was in the middle but we had to set up across a corner at the back. Well to do family and they didn't want us to use the same entrance as the guests and family, we had to crawl through an opening at the back when we went back this evening. Marquee was in their garden which is the size of a football pitch and the marquee was pretty large. Was able to drive right up and unload when we set up.

It was for a 21st birthday but 90% were 40+ hence we were asked to play 60's, 70's & 80's but the small younger element wanted "more modern stuff" so was quite a mix of music. After going to great lengths to get Karaoke sorted as requested, only one song sung.

The older element were very happy with the music. One person came up to me at the end and said that he hadn't enjoyed the music made by one of these infernal noise machines for years and asked for a card. But not so sure the younger element were overly impressed and as it was a 21st birthday, perhaps the music should of been more up to date. At the end of the day, who is it more important to please, the majority and follow the instructions given by the person paying or the birthday boy whose celebration it was?

Mixed feelings at the end. Everyone seemed to have a good time but there was something missing.

Fri Current residence in Pub. Get to play a good mix of indie tunes early on (love it) until the young girlies come in then it's bump and grind mixed with dance. Got to play Prodigy as last track so went home content.

Sat Had 10th Anniv for a Lesbian couple on a little island resort that you have to put your car on a barge to get to and stay overnight as last barge is 5.00pm. Good night 40-50 ish crowd so mostly the older stuff. Great bunch of people real good night so all and all a great weekend. knackered now got up at 6.00am to get the 1st barge out of Dodge.

For the 40th bday that I did on Friday, I stumbled across this website who do taylor made front page news.

I printed a couple of them off and took them with me to the gig and they seemed to go down a treat...

You don't even need to buy them.....

The actual gig was a little poo because only 40 people turned up in a venue which will hold 250-300... Although the bday girl emailed me saying she had had a great night so...

Then last night's B&Q bbq got very rainy, so moved the venue to inside the pub instead of the marquee - Slow getting started, and not much dancing, but a fun crowd who wanted to drink/chat and occassionally boogie who all seemed to have a good night - although I'll find out next time I goto B&Q on whether I get served or not tongue out icon

Just completed the worst weekend ever.

Thursday got a call from Gary in Basingstoke to see if I could cover for him on Saturday Sorry I said I cant but I will try and find someone else, which I did, but to no avail.

Thursday night went to bed at about 12ish got up at 2 and boy was a I ill boy I would not wish that on my worst enemy.

Had that right through til the evening, trouble is that we had a gig in the evening first time ever I have not been able to get to a gig I got it covered. local pub gig.

Saturday wedding could not get it covered so did it with Ali. it was for a friend as well.

How I got through the night i will never know but I was glad to see 1 am. then pack the van oh boy what a task

Got home stayed in bed till today starting to come to life again as next weekend got 4 gigs on the trot.

best thing about to day is I have not smoked for 2 weeks now

Cheer all

Pete
